Dear Colleagues and Members of IWRA,
We are very pleased to invite you to save the date for the 2nd Islands Water Congress, a flagship biennial event hosted by the International Water Resources Association (IWRA) in partnership with the Water Resources Authority (WRA) of Jamaica. The 2nd Islands Water Congress' location and date are the following:
📍 Montego Bay, Jamaica
📅 9–11 December 2026
This unique global gathering will bring together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and island stakeholders to explore under the theme "Resilient Islands: Securing Water for Sustainable Development in a Changing World".
Together, we will explore innovative and collaborative solutions to the pressing water challenges faced by island communities worldwide. In doing so, the Islands Water Congress works to amplify island voices in global water dialogues.
Following the success of the inaugural Congress in the Faroe Islands—uniting experts from more than 40 countries around freshwater governance, collaboration, and innovation—the 2nd Islands Water Congress will build on this momentum. It will highlight the critical role of islands as sources of innovation, resilience-building, and context-driven approaches that can inform water action in both island settings and beyond.
