we are currently searching PhD. positions at the Department of Land and Water Resources Management, Slovak University of Technology, Bratislava

 

PhD. thesis topics:

1. Multivariate multi-model analysis of changes in the runoff regime in Slovakia

2.  Simulation framework for assessing uncertainty in environmental and water resources planning in a changing environment

3.  Connectivity and flood runoff dynamics in headwater catchments of Slovakia

4.  Regional detection, attribution and projection of impacts of climate variability and climate change on runoff regimes in Slovakia

 

Department of Land and Water Resources Management

Department of Land and Water Resources Management (DLWRM), Faculty of Civil Engineering, SUT, Bratislava conducts research and offers courses in hydrology, hydropedology, hydrometeorology, irrigation and drainage, river channel engineering and restoration of rivers, soil erosion and land protection, ponds and small dams, GIS and CAD applications in water resources, and water resources management. The DLWRM has been involved for many years in international research projects and projects granted by national research agencies. International grants from the British Council, Swiss National Science Foundation, and four EU FP projects included research in the areas of mathematical models for runoff and flash flood forecasting, estimation of land use change impacts on the hydrological regime and regional analysis of flash flood regimes. National grant research also focused on problems of pedotransfer functions, regional flood and drought frequency analysis, estimation of land use and climate change impacts on runoff.

Information for doctoral studies applicants

The main aim of the doctoral studies is to prepare graduates for pursuing a career in their chosen scientific area. Candidates are supported by their supervisors, which are professors or associate professors. An individual study programme is arranged for each Ph.D. candidate, which includes research and teaching activities. After completing the prescribed requirements, in the second year of the study students have to successfully defend their doctoral exam in front of an examination board in order to continue their doctoral programme. Successful completion of the studies and defence of the dissertation thesis result in the award of the Philosophiae doctor Diploma – Ph.D.

- nostrification of secondary school leaving report
