Dear colleagues,

Extreme coastal hazards are no longer isolated events. Tropical cyclones and extratropical storms increasingly generate compound impacts through storm surge, waves, and extreme precipitation, often triggering cascading failures across critical infrastructure with serious environmental, societal, and public-health consequences.

We invite you to submit an abstract to our AGU26 session:

NH028 – Extreme Coastal Hazards, Cascading Infrastructure Risks, and Community Impacts https://agu.confex.com/agu/agu26/prelim.cgi/Session/281748

This session brings together researchers working at the intersection of climate and Earth system modeling, coastal hazards, infrastructure resilience, and community impacts. We especially welcome contributions that use or evaluate climate and Earth system projections (including CESM and related frameworks), hydrodynamic and flood modeling, remote sensing, infrastructure fragility analysis, spill exposure and health impact assessments, and community-engaged research.

The goal is to advance integrated science that supports risk communication, adaptation, and resilience planning for vulnerable coastal regions.

Abstract deadline: Wednesday, 5 August 2026, 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (only about one week remaining)
