Dear colleagues,

We are looking for a PhD with knowledge of hydrological models, especially the use and application of the SWAT model - Soil and Water Assessment Tool, for hydrological and environmental analysis of river basins, assessment of the impacts of land use, climate change, and good agricultural practices on ecohydrological balance.

The application of SWAT will seek to integrate data on water quality and climate scenarios to provide local and state managers with subsidies for risk governance and the preparation of climate change adaptation plans based on scientific evidence, to contribute to structural changes in the governance of natural resources and their relationships with socioeconomic development and ecosystem services, improving adaptation and resilience to climate change.

The objective is the integrated analysis of water resources, ecosystem services, health, and socioeconomic development in different climate, land use, and sanitation infrastructure scenarios to favor decision-making and formulation of public policies. The steps are: to integrate the data into the model; calibrate and validate the model; impact analysis on water resources; to simulate study scenarios.

Fluent English is essential. The selected candidate must reside in São Paulo during the duration of the scholarship. Time of PhD scholarship: 18 months.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 12,000.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
