Dear Colleague,
I am writing to you as a researcher whose work I greatly respect in the fields of hydrology, climate science, and water resources. I am serving as the Guest Editor for a new Special Issue in the journal AI (MDPI), titled "Sensing the Future: IoT-AI Synergy for Climate Action."
This Special Issue aims to address the critical challenges posed by climate change through the powerful convergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). We seek to compile high-impact research that translates advanced sensing, data analytics, and intelligent modeling into practical solutions for climate resilience, with a strong emphasis on water-related applications.
Given your expertise, I believe your research could make a significant contribution. Topics of particular relevance include:
  • AI in Hydraulics
  • AI/ML for flood forecasting, drought prediction, and disaster management.
  • Remote sensing and IoT for water resources monitoring and informatics.
  • Game-theoretic frameworks and integrated tools for water governance and the Water-Energy-Food Nexus.
  • Digital twins and hybrid models for river basins and urban water systems.
Key Details:
  • Journal: AI (ISSN 2673-2688, Impact Factor: 5.1)
  • Submission Deadline: 31 July 2026 (early submissions are highly encouraged)
  • Special Issue Page & Submission Portal: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/ai/special_issues/UODU8ZM810
  • We welcome original research, reviews, and case studies that demonstrate both technical innovation and real-world application. Accepted papers are published continuously upon acceptance, ensuring rapid dissemination of your work.
I would be delighted if you would consider submitting a manuscript. I am also happy to discuss potential article ideas or abstracts prior to submission.
Thank you for your time and contributions to our field. I look forward to the possibility of featuring your valuable work in this collection.
With best regards,
Rashid Farooq (PhD, P.Eng., GCRISM)
