We welcome abstract submissions to our AGU 2026 session H016: Advances in Managed Aquifer Recharge for Groundwater Sustainability.
Managed aquifer recharge (MAR) is playing an increasingly important role in addressing groundwater depletion, improving water quality, enhancing drought resilience, reducing flood risk, and adapting to climate change. This session will bring together scientists, engineers, practitioners, and water managers to discuss the latest advances in MAR research and implementation.
We welcome contributions on:
💧 Emerging MAR technologies (surface spreading, flood-managed aquifer recharge, drywells, injection wells)
🔬 Water flow and contaminant transport during recharge
📈 Hydrologic characterization, monitoring, and modeling
🌱 Groundwater quality, ecosystem services, and climate adaptation
⚖️ Water policy, governance, socio-hydrology, and implementation challenges
🌍 Case studies that highlight the opportunities, tradeoffs, and lessons learned from MAR projects
Whether your work focuses on hydrology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, environmental engineering, groundwater modeling, ecology, or water policy, we would love to see your abstract!
