Dear All,

I am attaching the preliminary flyer of an international workshop that
will take place in physical presence in Bologna on September 11, 2023.

Novel concepts for the mitigation of flood and drought risk
Science progress and engineering practice

The workshop is framed within the research activities of the extended
partnership “RETURN - Multi-Risk Science for Resilient Communities Under
a Changing Climate”, financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

The aim is to bring together international hydrologists to discuss how
novel scientific findings and methods can assist decision making of
environmental engineers in water resources management, land management
and hazard planning, addressing the challenges of the modern society.
Topics may include floods and droughts under environmental change and
linkages to societal processes system. The expected workshop output is
the publication of a community commentary on a scientific journal.

The workshop will be organised as a combination of few invited talks and
several pop-up presentations with discussions. Interested participants
are kindly invited to send an expression of interest to Serena Ceola
(serena...@unibo.it) by July 20, 2023, by specifying whether they are
willing to deliver an extended or pop-up presentation.

Additional details are given in the attached flyer. Logistic details and
plans for scientific publication will be communicated to the attendants
by the end of July.

I am looking forward to seeing you in Bologna.
Best,
Alberto
