Hi,

In Europe, some companies build their bookmobiles on a bus chassis and most build theirs on a truck chassis. In many cases, those who build the bookmobile on a truck chassis are unable to remove the bulkhead between the cab and saloon to provide a walkthrough from the cab to the saloon. In the case of a bus chassis, this problem, obviously, does not arise.

Our bookmobile is a 12 ton vehicle. Very few trucks this size can run on electricity. However, many buses in our cities do run on electricity. I have noticed that Gothenburg, in Sweden, has a bookmobile that runs on electricity and it is built on a Volvo 7900 bus chassis.

Is there a difference between a bus and a truck that renders the former easier to run on electricity? Does the truck have other advantages over a bus?

I would appreciate any thoughts.

Regards

John
