Northfield Mountain Recreation and Environmental Center
It's May and the Turners Falls Fishway is Opening!

Visit the Turners Falls Fishway from May 11 until June 16.
Underwater viewing windows offer visitors of all ages a chance to see American shad, sea lamprey and other migratory fish during their upriver spring journey to spawn. Open Wednesday through Sunday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm from mid May to mid June, as well as on Monday, Memorial Day. Free admission, no reservations required.
The Fishway is located on First Street, off Avenue A in Turners Falls, MA.

Saturday May 11th, Live Bird Demo -Eyes on Owls
Show times are at 11:30am and 1:30 pm

Event Description:

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will sponsor an educational live bird demonstration featuring Eyes On Owls. Eyes on Owls is run by Marcia and Mark Wilson of Dunstable, MA. This charismatic husband and wife team bring many years of experience to their popular owl programs. Marcia is a trained field biologist with experience in natural history, field ornithology and environmental education. Mark is a wildlife photographer, photojournalist and published author. Let's enjoy a run from Athol to Orange, check our trail signs, pick up unwanted debris, check the paddle stops and soak up the beauty of our homegrown Blue Trail.


We will spot cars in Orange by noon, shuttle to Athol and head down stream.
Bring your own boat and work gloves.
