Colours" is a song written and recorded by British singer-songwriter Donovan.[2] The "Colours" single was released in the United Kingdom on 28 May 1965 through Pye Records (Pye 7N 15866) and a few months later in the United States through Hickory Records (Hickory 45-1324). The "Colours" single was backed with "To Sing for You" (previously included on What's Bin Did and What's Bin Hid) on the United Kingdom release and "Josie" (from What's Bin Did and What's Bin Hid) on the United States release.

Donovan followed up the success of "Catch the Wind" with "Colours", which featured a similar folk style. The single matched the success of "Catch the Wind" in the United Kingdom, reaching No. 4 on the charts.[3] In the United States, "Colours" reached No.61,[4] and marked a decline in the artist's popularity relative to "Catch the Wind". A different mix of the song (without harmonica) was released on his second album Fairytale. Billboard praised the "intriguing lyric and melody."[5] Cash Box described it as a "tender, slow-moving, rhythmic pledge of romantic devotion sold by the songster in his distinctive Bob Dylan-ish style."[6]

When Epic Records was compiling Donovan's Greatest Hits, they were either unable or unwilling to secure the rights to the original recordings of "Catch the Wind" and "Colours". Donovan re-recorded both songs in the studio with Big Jim Sullivan playing guitar, John Paul Jones on bass and keyboards and Clem Cattini on drums, produced by Mickie Most. The re-recordings were included on the greatest hits album.

"Hoist the Colors" is a song from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise, originally appearing in the 2007 installment Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. The title phrase literally refers to raising the flag of a ship, but in the films it is used as a call to arms for members of the Brethren Court, a confederation of pirates. The lyrics tell of the binding of the sea goddess Calypso in human form by the first Pirate King and Brethren Court of pirates. [1]

The song was inspired by an urban legend about the nursery rhyme "Sing a Song of Sixpence" originating as a coded message used by Blackbeard and his associates to recruit crew members for their voyages.[2]

The eerie drone effect in the background of the song is a recording of Andy holding a single long note using overtone singing, plus a low bass note from JD, looped to play continuously through the whole song.

"Hoist the Colours", also written as "Hoist the Colors", was a haunting sea shanty known by all pirates across the Seven Seas. The song was related to the action of hoisting of a pirate's flag, though it was mainly used as a call to arms for the members of the Brethren Court.

The song Hoist the Colours told the tale of the binding of Calypso by the Pirate King and the First Brethren Court. It was also used as the method of summoning the Court to stand together in the pirates' most dire need. It was sent forth by Hector Barbossa, who intended to unite the Pirate Lords and release Calypso from her form of flesh.[1]

The song was sung by assembled men and women prisoners sentenced for execution by the East India Trading Company at Fort Charles in Port Royal, after a cabin boy, facing the gallows, began singing the song while holding a piece of eight. The entire assembly soon took up the cue. The song was connected to the nine pieces of eight. Once the crowd had sung, the nine coins begin resonating. Sao Feng heard the resonance in a coin given to him by Hector Barbossa in Singapore, and the entire members of the Fourth Brethren Court united at Shipwreck Cove because of it.[2][3]

Anyway, because chromesthesia is a weird and unusual phenomenon, and nobody knows exactly why it happens, we decided to gather a bunch of synesthetes (the sort that experience sound/music as colour) to talk us through the one song they find the most colourful.

It's a great all-age song that can easily be used for outdoor worship. During the verses, you can get people in your group to call out examples for each colour (e.g. blue sky). The chorus is simple enough to learn quickly and to sing from memory.

This song is featured in our 'Worship in the Woods' book which offers 10 service plans for interactive outdoor worship. The recording was produced by Timo Scharnowski (with vocals from the Burr family) and the video was made by Gemma Scharnowski. Feel free to use the song and video in worship contexts, both gathered and online.

When Dolly's mother took a box of rags that someone had given her and sewed them into a patchwork coat of love for her daughter, she didn't know she was setting her on a path that would become one of the most beautifully woven tapestries in the history of American music.

Dolly began songwriting at the tender age of five and has been on a magical journey of melody and rhyme ever since. Songwriting is part of the fabric of who Dolly is. For songwriters, some songs can take years to write, while others can be crafted in just a few hours. However, there are those special few that are woven in what seems to be a moment's time. Dolly's beloved "Coat of Many Colors" is one such song.

The year was 1969, and she was on tour with country music legend Porter Wagoner, who was widely known for his iconic rhinestone-clad stage clothes. She was riding on the tour bus when the inspiration for "Coat of Many Colors" overcame her. Ironically, the only paper available to her was Porter's dry cleaning receipts from his designer, one-of-a-kind coats, so she grabbed a pen and started writing! The song that poured out of her soul that day was about her own one-of-a-kind coat; a coat that gave her determination and wrapped her with confidence in the riches of a mother's love.

As the song says, Dolly's mother told her the Old Testament story of Joseph and his coat of many colors. Just like Joseph rose above the cruelty of others in his youth and went on to achieve his purpose in life, Dolly rose above the scoffers in the schoolyard and lives her life to encourage others to rise above their circumstances and to dream more...and it all started with a box of rags and a mother's love.

Dolly Parton performs "Coat Of Many Colors" after her induction to the "Country Music Hall Of Fame." Alison Krauss & Union Station were on hand during the ceremony to lend their beautiful talents to the performance.

You, as a producer of the entertainment agency "283 Production", will spend your days working with 28 idols of different personalities through lessons and jobs, by producing them and helping them to grow.

You will send the idols you have produced to new stages and make their songs shine the stage with colors through the rhythm game.

Live, the rhythm game part, is similar to Project SEKAI COLORFUL STAGE! feat. Hatsune Miku. Difficulty levels for each song include Easy, Normal, Hard, Expert, and Master, the latter of which must be unlocked by clearing its Expert difficulty. The player can choose to use Live Boosts (LB) before starting a live, which are not required unlike other games.

During the rhythm game, the player is given the task of tapping, holding down, flicking, and sliding notes to the rhythm of the selected song. Depending on the accuracy of the tap or flick, the player will get a rating of Perfect, Great, Good, or Miss. A Good or higher will add 1 to the current combo, while a Miss will break it and decrease life by 100 or 50 based on the type of note.

If the player reaches the end of the song while having life, the song is cleared. If the player reaches 0 life, the player can continue playing, but the song will not be considered as cleared, but they will still get score and combo rewards. The player starts with 1,000 life, and the maximum cap is 2,000 life, which is only possible with life recovery skills.

When the player clears a song with only Perfect/Great/Good notes (no Misses), they will get a Full Combo. If only Perfect/Great notes are hit, it will be an All Great. Clearing a song with only Perfect notes is an All Perfect.
