Born on March 11, 1939, Taif Adzhba was a famous Abkhazian poet and recipient of the Dmitry Gulia State Prize. His fate is unknown after being taken from his home by Georgian guards during the Patriotic War of Abkhazia.

Taif Adzhba, the author of more than ten collections of lyrical poetry, was honoured with the Dmitry Gulia State Prize in 1998 for his collection of selected poems and verse titled 'Blessing'. The collection was published in 1989 on the occasion of the author's 50th anniversary.

On 9th October 1992, Taif Adzhba, along with the Abkhaz people who lived near him were led from their homes by Georgian occupying forces, sat on a bus and driven to an unknown location. To this day their loved ones know nothing certain about their fate. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Taif Adzhba, a prominent Abkhazian poet, was detained and subsequently shot by Georgian guards after being subjected to prolonged torture. His burial site remains unknown. It is believed that Adzhba's only crime was his ethnic origin.
