It is with a sad and heavy heart that after an 18-year run, I announce Bastrop Karate is closing. There will be no class Monday. We will meet on Wednesday at Bob Bryant Park for a farewell pizza party.
I want you all to know that I did not make this decision lightly, and have actually agonized over it for several months. There are several factors that have gone into this decision:
· First, the time demands of my new job have put me in a situation to where I cannot devote the time necessary to support and grow the Karate school.
· Secondly, the continued increase in cost at the hotel and lack of affordable property in Bastrop have me now losing money for the first time since 2000. I’ve tried to defer the cost and absorb it in other ways, but that has been unsuccessful.
· The final factor that led me here is my mother’s health condition. She has been in and out of the hospital, and I have had to make spur-of –the-moment trips to San Antonio.
I was hoping to at least continue operations until the end of the year, but I will not be able to. I will miss teaching karate and all of you terribly. I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving, a very merry Christmas, and a wonderful New Year!
Sincerely,
Mark Laskowski
