Dears,

I don’t see any proper response from Reddy sir yet on this subject. And his kid started going to school as well. He has already paid 7k and another 5k is due.

Its high time for us to drive this forward.  So anyway am taking a print out of this and pasting in the building. Let’s see how people react.

I have done the necessary changes to the doc. PFA the same.

Hi Deepu,
I will contribute 3K towards the school fee. Should I transfer it to your account?

thanks,
Subhamoy

Great. I see it credited to my account. This is an inspirational support. Looking forward for other friends in the apartment for the support.

Thanks again for the great start.

Great initiative Deepu, but the same time we should maintain the thin line between helping/making him dependent on us/anyone.

I'm sure you have had done some research between his income vs expenditure?
IMHO his income should be more than 17-18K+ PM (correct me if I'm wrong) monthly salary + other income which he earns by cleaning cars/bikes etc. Which is more than sufficient to run his family as he only have to feed them. His accommodation, electricity, water & other facilities are completely free? He should be saving 10K+ easily PM.

The point I'm trying to make here is, if he is not capable of paying his daughter fee I would be more than happy to help him, but I see that is not the case here.

"Helping the needy is the greatest thing one can do, but making someone depend is worst thing ever done"

Please correct me if my thoughts/calculation is wrong here.

Hi Akhilesh,

You may be right Akhil with the figures. Only We rather I thought was helping someone who is there with us day in and out. Be it any sort of help that we need. And with his expenses, as far as i understand he is also helping his family back home. Its not only the expenses he has here. He is also sending money to his family in his hometown.

Inspite he has managed to get some money and we are seeking some help on behalf of him to complete the fund.

thanks,
deepu.

Hi Akhilesh,

Since he is working for our building we wanted to support him and initiate it.

He already paid 7k we are just helping him on the remaining donation and we already got the required contribution.

Regards
Jagan

Hey Guys,

Let me tell you a short story:

"A biology teacher was teaching his students how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. He told the students that in the next couple of hours, the butterfly would struggle to come out of the cocoon. But no one should help the butterfly. Then he left. The students were waiting and it happened. The butterfly struggled to get out of the cocoon, and one of the students took pity on it and decided to help the butterfly out of the cocoon against the advice of his teacher. He broke the cocoon to help the butterfly so it didn't have to struggle anymore. But shortly afterwards the butterfly died. When the teacher returned, he was told what happened. He explained to this student that by helping the butterfly, he had actually killed it because it is a law of nature that the struggle to come out of the cocoon actually helps develop and strengthen its wings. The boy had deprived the butterfly of its struggle and the butterfly died. Apply this same principle to our lives. Nothing worthwhile in life comes without a struggle. As parents we tend to hurt the ones we love most because we don't allow them to struggle to gain strength".

This is the most motivational story I had ever read in my school days and a strong follower of this.

I think my last e-mail could not convey the message I wanted to, but if you read the story above “My point was on those lines”.

Deepu/Jagan I appreciate the intention here, however I’m not convinced with reasons given by Deepu.

I’m definitely sure that he is well capable of paying his daughter fee in spite of sending some money back home for his parent’s maintenance. (Did we check how much he is sending/other expenses? That is going to be a different debate, I’m not getting into that)

Assuming he sends 5K home out of his 10K saving, he still saves 5K flat which translates to 5*12=60,000 P.A

Only 13K is needed for his daughter admission, which is way lower on his saving isn’t it?

Even if we are interested on helping him, there are various options:

Option1:

In worst scenario suppose if he doesn’t have a single penny in his pocket.

We could have paid this 13K from our maintenance money and should have deducted 1K from his salary every month. (Which is more convenient where he’ll also not have the burden and his problem would have been shorted out easily)

Option2:

We can provide some addition task on top of his daily work, where he can earn some extra money?

Option3:

Working couple always make a difference in financial matter than single income.

His wife can look for some alternative source of income (like. Work as a cook [high in demand with good pay], do some other house hold maintenance job if she feels so)

Neither I’m against Rajender nor the initiative.

I’m the one who strongly referred him as our watchman, favored his salary hike, Manzoor and myself initiated his insurance, easily available all the time on his personal/financial problem.

I think all of our intention is good, however there is difference in opinion. You are talking about need, I’m about necessity.
