Public meeting

It is now one week until our public meeting on 25th March (Monday) at St Stephens (AL2 3PJ).  Presentations will include the findings of the Abfly commissioned Feasibility Study on a passing loop & increased train services as well as the latest news from the train operator (LNWR) and ACORP.  The meeting will start at 7:30

Call for help!! We need you to volunteer

We need some volunteers to help us out for a couple of hours one weekday morning.

We are looking to survey people who park at Watford Junction, St Albans City and Radlett stations on one day where we would like you to ask each driver just two questions - which post code did you travel from and which station are you travelling to.  This data will be extremely valuable to us in identifying how many people currently drive rather than take the Abbey Line.

If you can help us that would be great, or if you know other people who might be happy to help out for a couple of hours that would be amazing!!  Please just fill in your details in this form and we will be in touch once everything is ready to go :-)

Oyster expansion consultation

The Department for Transport has an ambition to expand pay-as-you-go on rail in commuter areas.  There is currently an open consultation on how this could work and options for changing fares.  The consultation includes expansion to Tring, Stevenage, Luton and Stansted which includes the Abbey Line.  You can give your input into the consultation directly to the government here.

Calling all citizen scientists!!

One of my personal reasons for being interested in the Abbey Line is the potential for more people to be able to travel in a more environmentally friendly way, improving the quality of the air that we breath.  King's estimates that between 28,000 and 36,000 people die as a result of air pollution every year in the UK.

Currently the amount of public data on air quality is quite limited in the UK and I'd like to increase this so that people can see the issue so it can be improved.  You can see the current data here https://maps.luftdaten.info/#12/51.7015/-0.3757 - there are only two data points anywhere near the Abbey Line and it would be great to have more!!

If you want to get involved then it's easy!!  Either by building your own Air Monitoring station using the instructions (ok, well this is a bit trickier but if you like to tinker then it is fun) https://luftdaten.info/en/construction-manual/ or by filling in the form and I will build one for you, it will cost about £30 and you just need to give it WiFi and power to keep it alive :-)

Thank you

Thank you for your help and support, its only with interested and passionate members like yourself that we can make a difference!!
