Why are we scrambling about 4 games into the season still looking for replacements for Aluko and Maguire? Other than Foster and Pawlett, we also have no recognised full backs or wingers, yet gave Jason Brown and Kari Arnsasson contracts, in areas we were reasonably well covered.

Saturday's line up had 4 players out of position - Fyvie and Milson wasted playing in the wide midfield areas, plus McArdle at right back and Foster at left back. Why?

2 wins in 17 games is not good in anybody's book.  What concerns me is that we couldn't beat a poor St Johnstone side, made St Mirren look like Barcelona, then easily brushed aside by average Celtic and Hearts sides. And all with no goals scored.

Next two games are massive, ICT and Dundee at home. Anything other than two wins and alarm bells will really be ringing.

The manager's after match press conference on saturday was as low as I've ever seen him. Is it as simple to place Milne as the common denominator in our demise over the last 16 years?

We definitely badly need a striker, but to put on my reasonable hat, we also have a lot of players who have come back from injury and a lot of players who are new to the team and need time to settle in. The whole team needs time to gel. There were some decent passes and through balls played on Saturday that went nowhere because the other player made the wrong run. These guys need to get to now each other. They mostly all look at least decent on the ball, but as a team, they don't work yet. They also need confidence. Apparently one commentator said at the weekend that the only difference between us and Hearts was that they took their chances and we didn't.  That's not unfair.

I would say, though, that Ryan Jack is a better option at RB than McArdle, especially in terms of getting forward. I also think that Vernon is lost without Maguire and Magennis looks a much better option up front than he does right now. We're overloaded with central midfielders and trying to fit them all in isn't working - yet.

I’m still waiting on that promised “marquee signing”.

I dunno why we signed arnason at all. We have enough centre midfielders.

We need a full back, winger and striker.

Then we could have a complete team.

Justin, Magennis will always be guff and you know it. He’s the new Mackie.

I beg to differ. I think he has a lot of potential and could become a big goalscorer for us in years to come. He's strong, decent in the air and good with the ball at his feet. The last thing in particular makes him ten times the player Mackie is! His decision making is suspect, but then he was a goalkeeper five minutes ago. With experience, he'll come good. Wait and see.
