BlankOne of the finest defensive performances we've put up against them.
Even down to 10 men and conceding a lot of possession it seemed - although
official stats gave us 56% of the ball - they created very little and I'd
give us a deserved win. Fine performances from Foster, Mulgrew, Kerr & Young
in particlar, with good support from Miller , Pawlet, Maguire & Paton.

They'll just have to face it - they just can't beat us up here!

I think Wattie was happy with a 1-0 defeat.

Why else would he put Bougherra on?

It would be interesting to see if he's going to tell us how much they
deserved the win. Our effort and workrate gave us a deserved win, IMHO. Did
think Derek Young would get a start, but he really surprised with a fine
performance. Still, as far as Rangers were concerned, they didn't create
much of anything in the second half, despite having a spare player for 30
minutes. Bring on Celtic now.

That's the ideal type of game for Young.

A game where we need 11 workers on the park.

Not 100% sure who I'd say our best player was, but if Kerr hadn't been sent
off, then I think it would definitely have been him.

Kerr has really been growing into the captaincy recently, apparently McGhee
wanted to substitute him when he saw the extent of the cut on his leg and
Kerr told him in no uncertain terms that he wanted to keep playing. That's
exactly the type of attitude we need.

Yet another good game at centre back from Foster, the number of different
roles he will do a decent job in for us means it's vital we hold on to him.

Thought Mulgrew played a stormer. Very good game from him. Foster was ok but distribution was poor.

Pawlett was the most composed player on the park by a stretch. Agree about Kerr. He was throwing himself about all over the place with a double whammy that raised the roof on one occasion. Haven't seen the tackles on tv that led to his sending off but when it happened I thought it was harsh.

Miller led the line well and watching the goal, he did very well to control it and lay it off for Paton.

Langfield - couple of hands in front of your eyes moments but his save for Boyd's shot (or was it McCulloch?) was top drawer.

Young did well and I like the way the midfield was trying to play football and not be panicked into hoofing it when under pressure.

Even with a man less, I didn't think they were gonna cause us problems. They were very one dimensional weren't they?

Very content wee Dandy tonight so I am.

The first was definitely a booking (although on the tv footage you see w. miller standing up in the stand going mental). The 2nd was a joke.

Would be interesting to hear McGhee's thoughts on the ref, because after Scott Leitch got his telling off (what a joke, surely if he's not being sent off the ref should just get the 4th official to deal with it) McGhee turned and said something to Mackie and Maguire which had them both in stitches.

I think that was the poorest Rangers team I have ever seen at Pittodrie. They resorted to the long ball most of the time.

Right on Foster - he pace is v.useful, he tackles well and can get forward.
Rory might have a point on his distribution, but he defends well, so indeed,
crucial we keep hold of him - he'd walk straight into any other SPL side.
Add the young lads - Paton and Pawlett (Fyvie too) have taken their
opportunities superbly, and look fixtures in the team...and we've got Sone
Aluko to come back.

Our top man? It was hard to say really - Miller, Paton did superbly, but it
was the defensive effort that caught the eye, and Derek Young for me stood
out, but as you say Dave, it would have been Kerr if he'd been on for 90
minutes.

MacDonald will be back next week to replace Kerr (suspended for next week?)
but really, that's a safe option - MacDonald gives you good effort, and does
what he should, but right now Pawlett, Paton, Fyvie, Maguire & Aluko really
give us an added dimension...really, looking at our top XI, we should be too
hot for most sides, but we've heard that before...time to prove it.

I think that goes for all the teams around our level.

If any team from us, Utd, Hearts (ok maybe not them) and Hibs could keep our
best 14 or 15 players fit and injury free, we probably could mount a decent
challenge.
