What is the general mood concerning the return of Russell Anderson.

Personally, I am very happy, provided he proves his fitness (which I am sure the club will have been keen to assess).  I remember the Anderson/Considine partnership being one of the better ones we have had in recent years, and like to think this could be resumed.

I was surprised to see him named as captain though.  I though Arnasonn was to be named captain after Foster’s move.  Does the fact he’s not mean he is likely to be offski in the summer?

Steve

Smart move which should help Andy Considine onto the next level. When Cadger's contract expires, Brown will have been with us 2.5 years. Russell Anderson signs on as coach for a year and replaces Brown after that year?

No question in my mind it is a massive risk, given:-

A) he had serious knee problems when he was here before,
B) he has only played around 50 games since he left.

Would imagine his contract will be heavily based on appearances, so from that perspective, we are covered. If he can prove his fitness, it could be a great move, but..............

Think he has lined up a career in accountancy when his playing days are over.

Agree with Nigel - big gamble for me.

And if signing another centre half now and we don't sign a couple of wide players then another waste of what budget Brown has got.  Just seems to sign players that fall into his lap regardless of position instead of acknowledging areas we clearly need to strengthen and sourcing players in these positions.

So we've signed Hughes and Rae and Osbourne has re-signed.

Seems like a pretty good business but it can't have come cheap.

Still we wait for a wide midfielder. Or can Hughes do that job?

I see Hibs are letting Michael Hart go. Might be decent defensive cover until the end of the season.

Danny uchechi has also signed, think he’s a wide player. I’m more worried about Rangers selling Jelavic and using that money to poach a couple of our better players at the last minute.

We'll be getting Diamond back at this rate! ;-)

(please no, never)

At least Hart could fire in a cross from the halfway line. If his sights are lower then yeah I Would take him back.

We must have more centre mids than Man City! I make that: Folly, Osbourne, Milsom, Arnason, Fyvie, Jack, Hughes and Rae. OK, Jack can play in lots of places, and several are injured, but still...

I also think Hart would be useful to have. Some players just don't thrive at the wrong club and he was part of that great back four with Anderson, Considine and Foster a few years back. Not like he'll be expensive...

And wingers. Yes. Pawlett. and Ucechi(?) and, em... that's it.

Broadly happy with the signings, especially Cadger if we can get him fit, but still concerned about the lack of depth on both flanks.

Strange Jan window for us, looks like Brown has done his summer and winter window purchases in one go! Can only assume there will be players going out later today, as why are we overloaded with both central defenders and central midfielders? Either that or he intends lining us up 4-3-3, although we still lack attacking full backs to allow us to deploy that formation.

Hope Danny Uchechi proves to be an inspired signing as, bloody hell, even though we are winning, the fare on show is dreadful.

Well, talk on the internet is raging about Paddy McCourt coming on loan rest of the season. Sounds incredibly fanciful, but would give us instant width if true.

A squad laden with central midfielders and central defenders usually means that 3-5-2 would be the preferred formation.

Thankfully with the amount of sicknotes on the go at Pittodrie just now that’s unlikely – who can mind Willie Miller’s attempt to convert AFC to a team playing 3-5-2 and the disaster that led to!
