I am struggling to appreciate why the Cove rejection is so damaging to the plans for a stadium at Loirston Loch.

If the training facilities are located elsewhere, then why should the stadium have to similarly be relocated?  Especially considering the considerable expense already incurred in getting the Loirston Loch site through planning, architects fees, etc…

It is obviously preferable to have the training site nearby, but this isn’t the case for other clubs (think of Hibs, Murry Park, and Man U).  Surely players can report to the training site for training and physio, etc.  The stadium itself would be then be used only for match days, Club Administration, storing trophies, etc.

Why does this have to damage the move?

Why isn’t it simply seen as an inconvenient compromise to the overall solution?

Or are AFC scaremongering in order influence a U-Turn by the council?

I am still angry at the fact that has come about because of a change in controlling council.  I am still a bit angry that there is no plan B, because councils are political and DO change from time to time – risk management anyone?

Does anyone know, have thoughts on this?

Steve

It was the second road access point demanded by planning permission. Without the Calder Park development, the road is no longer being constructed so the terms of the planning permission agreement for Loirston are now apparently invalid.

Has club or council or Cove Rangers made any statement since the immediate aftermath?  All seems to have gone very quiet.

Are AFC seriously considering ditching all plans to move to Loirston, after all the investment to date?

I would expect some discussion between the 3 parties can still proceed given the council would appear to have indicated that a work around could be found and wanted to work with the clubs to agree a way forward.

It’s been very difficult to find out any information on this since the vote on 22 Aug.
