No case for the defence.

Good effort in midfield and upfront totally wasted by appalling defending at the heart of the defence. Zander Diamond has really played himself out of a new contract. Terrible effort.

Totally agree. Our defence is like Bambi on ice. I haven't seen the team much this season and last night was the first time I've seen a whole game under Craig Brown, so there was a lot to take in.

Firstly, the negatives. Zander not only looks to have lost form, but he looks overweight and unfit to me. Has that been the case for long?

Celtic's first goal was shockingly easy. Hot knife asnd butter springs to mind. Anybody know if a Mr R Anderson is out of contract in the Summer? We need someone like him, and fast.

Paul Hartley also, while I appreciated his passion, still looks as unfit to me as he did at the start of the season. Some of his decision making was poor, too, I thought.

Why isn't Pawlett playing more? Is he still not fit, too? He is such a talented player who can unlock defences.

On to the positives. Steven Smith looks a great signing, I think. He slotted in well and, I thought, made a great contribution. Derek Young also did a decent job at right back, when he had to step in. Another player whose attitude is always great, if his play isn't always up to it.

Milsom looks good, too. Maguire continues to impress me and I thought his battling and running was at least as important as his attacking contributions. He won two or three tackles in the Celtic third that most would not even have bothered trying. Blackman and Vernon also look the part.

I was also pleased with the general fight and effort put in by everybody. I hope it is replicated every week, starting against Dunfermline on Sunday.

For me, getting everyone fit is the big aim for the rest of this season. Injuries are really hurting us. If we can get everyone up to scratch, then I'd be interested to see how a team like this would do.

Langfield
McNamee McArdle Considine Smith
Pawlett Hartley/Jack Milsom Aluko
Maguire Vernon/Blackman

With the knowledge that next year we should have Fyvie and Folly back too, things look pretty decent on the attacking front, so Brown's priority for the Summer absolutely must be the defence. We'll never move forward when we're so fragile at the back.

IMHO

As it pointed out in the paper at the end of the season 4 senior defenders and both keepers are out of contract so there can be wholesale changes.

Hartley was pi55 poor in the semi at the weekend, virtually anonymous – his old legs can’t handle those kinda matches.

Diamond has been guff for a while now. He is far too lightweight to be a centre half. Justin, you would have loved playing against him never mind Hooper et al.

Having dedicated full backs for the remainder of the season in Smith and McNamee should see an improvement.

Your team looks good but I’d really like to see Vernon and Blackman up front together at some point. Long term we’ll lose Blackman, Aluko and Maguire in the summer so we need to look beyond them. Summer shopping is going to be tough but luckily these two old boys have plenty of connections so we should have some hope.

Meantime all we have is the Scottish cup so it’s imperative to win on Sunday. I’d like Buckie Thistle away in the next round :¬)

Saw the highlights on BBC web site.
Should never have been a red card. What do others think?
The penalty was probably the right call, although I still thought it was a bit soft.
I thought Langfield had some outstanding saves (still think he gets way too much stick) but he should never have been beaten at his near post for the last goal.

Very depressing though. I hope the management team can lift the squad, because I would hate the optimism that had built up in the results leading up to the Celtic game to disappear. I would have hoped to have taken at least a point from our three games, but an 8-1 aggregate is a poor return.

Doesn't sound so bad to say Celtic are the only team to have beaten us since a change in management - I'll just try to forget that they've done it 3 times.
