Hello!
The year is a week old, and I hope the next 51 will continue being
good for/to us all.
As mentioned previously, three releases were unleashed in the waning
hours of December 31, 2010 (Central European Time, anyway.)
ABOS2-035: Satanism Around Hollywood "Uncontrolled Winds" 3" CD-R
Claus Haxholm (Dead Black Arms, The Doom Riot, etc.) with three
members of Shiggajon (actually, Claus plays in Shiggajon as well, on
occassion)... storming your senses! Weather forecast calls for an 18
minute screamer - a somewhat calm start progresses into violent sax
appeal, Heaven through reverb, Hell through devotion. Recorded live at
the 2009 Festival of Endless Gratitude in Copenhagen.
ABOS2-030: Solquest "The Blind Town" CD-R
A possible concept album/instrumental narrative by Stefano Spataro,
with guests. Influences range from (useful) post rock to (timeless)
Kosmische, over (comparatively earthbound) avant jazz composition/
improvisation, with delicate synth, melancholy piano, percussion, and
field recordings (not necessarily from actual fields... more like
inner fields... higher plains driftin', man.) Minimalist cover art,
painted/tinted for extra texture.
ABOS2-026: Anders Thode "Apartment Rocking With Anders Thode" CD-R
Lo-fi pop/garage hits from Anders Thode's home to yours. Up tempo, up
volume, Up Århus! Teeth in the strings, cat hair in the stomp boxes.
One of A B of S's catchiest releases ever (because man/woman cannot
live on weird improv and noisy drone alone!)

~~~~~~
Next up on the horizon indeed: The Child of a Creek's "Whispering
Tales Under an Emerald Sun" CD-R...
Due to some misunderstandings, the copies Norman Records (UK) and
Eclipse Records (USA) were sent (a total of 11 copies between them,
I'm told) come in *blank* bronze metallic/pearlescent envelopes. The
copies
abeardofsnails.com will be selling shall have some sort of
artwork affixed to the envelopes. Both "versions" have the same insert
and, of course, the same excellent shoegaze/neo-folk music...
Other releases nearing completion, and possibly released along with
the above:
Fugleøen's "Broer Mellem Lufthuller" 3"... synthetic bird trippin'!
Cleaner/more accessible than "Prøvesprængning"! (The Inhibitionists 3"
originally scheduled for this catalogue number will be released
elsewhere, but still by me! Sounds mysterious, huh? Details later!)
&
Bury My Heart's "Bury My Heart" CD-R... lo-fi stoner pop from Clayton
& co.; these dudes did a self-titled CD-R for the Root Don Lonie For
Cash label a few months ago - A B of S's release features different
songs from a slightly different lineup.
The above three could be as little as two weeks away. See, we shall.
Got a load of older and current tasks to catch up on first.
~~~~~~
I'm also excited to be launching a tiny 3" CD-R subscription series in
February! Six split 3"es (...this time 'round; might do a second round
if the first is successful.) Confirmed artists include Hobo Cubes,
Motion Sickness of Time Travel, Make Believe Bombs, The Big Drum in
the Sky Religion, and Jouurney. Full details in the next newsletter
(and the other usual outlets that end with .com)
~~~~~~
I'll (hopefully) be sending the last copies I have of older releases
to a distro or two in the near future, in order to free up space here
at home.
I only have a few of the following (in other words, between 1 and 4
copies of each - too few to send to distros) - grab 'em from me ASAP
if you want 'em:
ABOS2-012: Bessemerr "Emmeduranki" (CD-R)
ABOS2-016: Joseph McNulty "Week" (3")
ABOS2-020: Il Taglia "Next to the Core" (CD-R)
ABOS2-024: Mark Bradley "Beyond Smoke and Mirrors" (2x 3")
ABOS2-025: kokori "init( )" (3")
ABOS2-033: mono volumen "The Vanishing of the Bees" (3")
ABOS2-009: Sacred Carp "The Rest of Sacred Carp" (3")
ABOS2-010: Sacred Carp "More Rest Of" (3")
ABOS2-021: Pacific Mausoleum "Flying V" (CD-R)
ABOS123: Dead Black Arms / My Love We Found the Skies "Black Visions
White Versions" (2x CD-R)
ABOS128: Rough Ride of Crafts & Inhibitionists "Make Lovecraft Not
Warcraft" (CD-R)
