A Beard of Snails Records' 2013 started in February, pretty much. We're excited to be getting going...

TWO NEW TAPES, TO KICK OFF (OOH, ANOTHER FOOTBALL PUN) FEBRUARY

ABOS3-091 The Cats' Orchestra "Widow Fish Rumours" c25
New crazy gems from Nicholay Syrov's The Cats' Orchestra project (...split tape appearances on No Kings and Cae-sur-a, semi-recently), at times distinctly Russian, while positively otherworldly throughout. Shall we coin it toywave? Lots of mysterious fun trick noisemakers on display here, at any rate. Possibly some nightmare-whimsy synth(?), Pandit-esque organ (t)whirls, sepulchral soundtrack strings, and lush bass murk, too! A brief one, limited to 21 copies, in individually hand painted cardboard 'BradPak' cases.

ABOS3-092 Brandon Hurtado "A Path Through the Woods" c28
At last, a new Brandon Hurtado tape, to offset his many brilliant digital releases; BH may well be Richmond, VA's finest ambient dream-weaver since Labradford. Here be enchanted, harmonious lo-fi loop sculptures and tranquil machine twinkles... A forest of intimate, semi-electronic splendour. Minimalism + Monome; file under controllerism, if you prefer. Green (naturally) tapes in individually hand painted/stencilled cardboard 'BradPak' cases.

These'll be the final tape and CD-R releases from A Beard of Snails Records.
 
Also working (slower but steadily) on getting the label's final four (...my third sports reference, sorry!) vinyl/lathe cut releases off to their pressing plants/cutting houses...

Anyway, if you've been wanting to own a few A Beard of Snails releases, now is maybe a good time to take "consideration" to the next level :-)
I intend to get as many tapes and vinyl titles as possible to online distros in more... populous "markets"... as soon as possible. I will announce where and when... if.

METAPHYSICAL CIRCUITS
...is the name of a new label I've started. As far as A Beard of Snails goes: some similarities, some differences.
Metaphysical Circuits focuses on tapes (+ eventual downloads thereof) only...

The first release:

Noseph Janner / Levvels
"Destroyed Minutes" / "Levvels of Death"
C48, Edition of 25

Proudly presenting the inaugural release from Metaphysical Circuits: a delicious split (ie., two-mini-albums-on-one-tape) between two projects from one Owen McLean, whose eclectic solo oeuvre spans Katabatica (a noisy, glacial 3" on A Beard of Snails) over Joseph Nanner (a technoriffic tape on Exotic Pylon.)

(Additionally Owen's two recent stellar mixes for Entr'acte and Experimedia are recommended.)

Opening this particular sonic soirée is Joseph Nanner's alternate-universe-alter-ego, Noseph Janner, with transfixing pocket size andromeda strains, cryogenic synth shimmer, and high society sci-fi on offer. Alien (im)pulses, vacuum voyage visions, sprawling crystalline galactic tubin'. On the flip side, Levvels guides us back down to nature, on a wave of carnal, aggressive nu-age nuances. Damaged inflections, weaving netherworld webs of stunning immediacy and purpose.
