Phew! Another 4 CD-Rs are ready, after weeks of trivialities... which
I won't bore you with here (but it seems my tape recorder is kaput;
Expulsion #2 and 3 are unavailable until whatever needs fixing, has.
Argh!)
ABOS2-029 - Matthew Riley "Mason Dixon Blues" - CD-R
After a pair of brilliant self released CD-Rs and a huge c92 for 905
Tapes, Matt delivers another gem here - or, specifically, six -
wherein ghostly lo-fi folk, banjo 'n' drone, synth(?)edelia, necro
spirituals, and splendiferous futuristic noise all come together. Opus
magnum status, surely! Rejoice!

ABOS2-033 - mono volumen "The Vanishing of the Bees" - 3" CD-R
Cell phone towers and/or HAARP are to blame for the depletion of much
of the world's bee population; this 20 minute selection from the vast
recent archives of Larry Derdeyn may or may not be a lament to that.
Musically, we're talking loop-based low-key stoner exotica, monophonic
cave glitz, and miniature pseudo funk machinations. 15 copies, with
photos by Larry D. and hand painted / sprayed insides by C. Kann.

ABOS2-036 - Rough Ride of Crafts & Inhibitionists "Brutal Mixes" - 3"
CD-R
A 3" CD-R single, if anything, of J. Kendall / C. Kann (+ guests)
collaborations that didn't make it to / didn't fit on "Wendigo in the
Church of Merriment" or "Make Lovecraft Not Warcraft". Eleven-and-a-
half minutes of un-hipster hypnagogic psychedelia, distant vocals,
dense ambience, and oceanic jackhammering, punctuated by a brief,
cryptic "field" recording. The muddy, muggy fidelity hereon rendered
vinyl or cassingle less than appropriate, formatwise... despite the
music's (bong) hit potential; we do hope to appear on vinyl some day.
Meanwhile, this baby's limited to 30-some-odd copies.

ABOS2-037 - Bruno Duplant & Paulo Chagas "Arts Premiers" - CD-R
Recordings from a straight but trippy, ramshackle long(ish) distance
collab session, combining Paulo Chagas' (P.R.E.C.) free jazz /
improvisation (sax, oboe, flute, and clarinet) skills with Bruno
Duplant's (toy) drumming and percussive flair. Old school but unique.
For fans of ESP-Disk and Qbico releases, certainly. An edition of 60
with artwork by Monsieur Duplant.

Will there be more this month? Can't say... But here's a reminder of
what'll/who'll be in store:
Mold Omen, The Big Drum in the Sky Religion, Solquest, Bury My Heart,
Anders Thode, Hvasseline, The Child of a Creek, Dead Black Arms, Old
Man Forest, Riasni Drova Consort, and a triple CD-R by Dim Dusk Moving
Gloom / Dementia and Hope Trails / Inappropriate King Live! Plus: The
Diamond Family Archive, Psychic Parrot, Noon on Neptune, and two
unconfirmed names... as soon as the artwork (not being done by me) is
finished for these; it's been a while, but we're optimistic.
...and that's just the rest of 2010! If I suddenly strike it rich or
find financial help from unexpected sources, there'll be one or two
vinyl records this year. Otherwise, I'll have to save it all/save up
for it all for 2011. (Feel free to look at
abeardofsnails.com's
discography page for more names/numbers/analogue formats for the
future.)
Have a nice midweek!
