Hi,

to add the new database to the loans system you have to link it to the copies database with the utilities in the main menu.
But this is only a preliminary action in order to activate the functions for creating copies and loanobjects.
You have to create (one or more) copie(s) with the icon in the record-toolbar and from the copy created you can create the loanobject.
So this is an individual action for each book...
If you want to create loanobjects in batch, e.g. through conversion from your existing data (this is not clear from your question), you have to create records with the following structure :
v1 = CN (control number in the catalog database)
v10 = name of the catalog to which the loanobject belongs
v959 :
^i : barcode or unique identifier
^l : library where the book is stored
^b : shelf or section within the library
^o : object type in the loans system (e.g. short loans, normal loan, reserved...)
(^v : volume)
( ^t : issue)

The last two subfields are used rarely in special cases.
V959 is a repeated field for each copy of your book in the loans system.
Check this structure by opening the Loanobjects database and selecting the 'ALL' built-in format, so that you can see the internal structure of these records (of the demo set).
So, creating loanobjects through conversion is only possible if in one of your datasets you have the necessary data : esp. barcode and shelf-location should be there, CN will be there by necessity (as you need it in the catalog anyway), library, catalog-name and object-type could be fixed values, which are easy to create.
Sorry, it is not easy indeed. But it is possible
Read the manuals.
If not successful you can post concrete questions for more help.
