Your questions for this book:
1) Do you find this portrayal of zombie apocalypse realistic?
2) In the book, the "reporter" (blogger) became a breed of celebrity, which one would you most likely be and why?:
a) the Newsies, who report the
unvarnished truth;
b) the [Jon] Stewarts, who are more commentators than
reporters;
c) the [Steve] Irwins, who court danger for vicarious thrills;
(poke with stick and run)
d) the Aunties, responsible for soothing recipes, remembrances, etc;
e) and
the Fictionals, who provide a steady diet of escapism. (creative writing)
3) "What's really funny is that you can blame this whole thing on the news. One reporter heard a rumour that Dr. Kellis was intending to sell his cure [for the common cold] to the highest bidder and would never allow it to be released to the man on the street. This was ridiculous if you understand that the cure.. based on the exact virulence that enabled the common cold to spread so far and so fast..it was going to "infect" the world, and no amount of money would prevent that.Those are the facts, but this guy didn't care about the facts. He cared about the scoop and being the first to report a great and imaginary injustice being perpetrated by the heartless medical community. If you ask me, the real injustice is that Dr. Alexander Kellis is viewed as responsible for the near destruction of mankind and not Robert Stalnaker, investigative reporter for the New York Times." - Georgia Mason
^then a bunch of activists or something broke into his lab and stole the cure and released it from the crop duster, which mixed with the Marburg Amberlee (cure for cancer) that was being tested on at the same time. There is more to read but telling you the page number would be pointless so with this, you should have enough to search it.
So my question is: Who would you blame for the zombification virus outbreak? Do you agree or disagree with Georgia?
4) So we see how important the news plays a part in this novel. How do you feel about the news today? Is it trustworthy? Is it beneficial? Would you prefer bloggers to report the real news?
5) How do you feel about character deaths? Did you see it coming? Do you miss them? Do you feel betrayed as a reader? [highlight here for ending spoiler] For example, do you think the author had to kill off Buffy and Georgia? [to here]
6) Will you read the rest of the trilogy?
7) You think Senator Rick Ryman is going to be the next President?
