"I had the idea that one way to express the air was the kite festival," Franklin says. "I couldn't count the number of people who had kites flying up in the sky from the roofs. Nobody seemed to be excluded at all."

But the heart-shaped kite was special. For Franklin, "There's a lot of love everywhere, even in areas where there is a lot of challenge and a lot of poverty." That love, he says, "transcends everything."

The Swallow-tailed Kite is the bird featured on our logo! We are very proud of the kites, and the fact that the 60,000-acre Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed is land preserved for water and wildlife and provides habitat for these migratory raptors.

Located inside the Original Hideaway Pizza. If you love great coffee, you'll love to know that we provide a real alternative to coffee house chains with our hand crafted coffee and espresso drinks, a great tea selection, and delicious bakery options.

Soaring at great heights, the black kites of Mumbai are the quintessential survivors, thriving amongst dense human populations and successfully integrating themselves into the food chain. I, for one, have reserved that spot on the air-conditioning box on their behalf, beating away eager pigeons, in hopes of their timely return!

Little Cloud Kites are 'delta' kites, and are easy to fly. Kites come with flight instructions and are guaranteed for lifetime repairs. Kites are 48 inches wide and 25 inches tall, with a frame of Canadian hardwood spars.

They are self-catering appartements of course. Bathroom towels are provided. A Maid comes 3 times a week. Tip Top. The owner David is also a nice guy and is welcoming kitesurfers. Tip: I talked to him and he said I can offer a 3% Discount for his place when you tell at your booking that you found his place over welovetokite.com!

I would say the main season is from December to March /April for kiting. This is also high season on the island. Even though the Wind statistics looks better in June/July you may get a hurricane this time (which did not happen in Antigua the last years). When i was there in February i really had constant trade winds. Most of the time good for my 12m kite (70kg). So it was about 15-17knots then. So I would suggest rather take your bigger kites also with you and if you lack space in your bag leave the small kite at thome (but of course the best is you are prepared and always take all kites :).

Jabberwock Beach is a national park so there are no permanent structures on the premises. Kitesurf Antigua brings their trailer down each day and sets up in the parking lot which is just a few steps away from the beach. They have a tent for shade and the surrounding trees provide extra shade and a little shelter from the winds so you can easily pump your kites.

Halfmoon Bay is not only the best place to watch the sun rising in the morning but also the kitespot with the most waves. When I was there they where not really big, but still something to play around with. It seems it needs a bit more wind then the other spots. When I was there I felt on other beaches there was like 15knots and in Halfmoon Bay it felt like 8knots. I think because how the bay is situated it needs stronger wind to come through.

There is no extra kite-shop on the Island but the schools sell gear. Myself I bought a board at 40knots kiteschool. Which means if something breaks, you need a pump, screw, etc.: There are people on the island who can help you.

I wrote The Man Who Loved Kites soon after seeing a big stunt kite carving the air over Rye Beach on the New Hampshire shore. I was immediately bitten by the kiting bug and soon had my own stunt kite, along with a couple of single-line stunters (based on Indian and Japanese fighter kites), and a collection of colorful sky-painting kites. (My brother-in-law Tom and I once had 14 different kites in the air at the same time.)

Before I knew it, I had my own kite origin story to offer: The Man Who Loved Kites. It was published in the December 1991 issue of F&SF and received some very nice comments (as did the lovely cover illustration by Bryan Leister).

Two decades later, plus a few years, the story resurfaced in two surprising ways. First, it was republished in the new Italian affiliate of F&SF, with a lovely black-and-white interior illustration by Maurizio Manzieri. He contacted me, and we become mutual fans.

We believe that the stories and songs that fill our hearts with love and joy can be a tool to building a deeper and more genuine relationship with Christ and a platform for sharing the Gospel with others ?

Shortly after this release, she traveled to London for a 3-year music program to follow in the footsteps of her favorite artists, Adele and Amy Winehouse. Their influence, and the fruits of her study abroad, can be seen in the funkier, ballad-heavy ultraviolet! released in 2021. Still dominated by themes of longing and unrequited love, her sound matured with more experimentation and ultimate cohesion.

Admission is free for the day, compliments of the Friends of the State Historic Sites of the Hudson Highlands, who also provided the kites. Admission includes a guided tour of the historic Headquarters and the freedom to explore the Museum, including our newest exhibits, George Washington: Perspectives on His Life and Legacy, and The Defense of the Hudson.

These kites are simple to make with the big bonus being that you probably already have all the supplies you need at home! Our girls love to make these mini paper kites and I hope yours do too. Click here to read the full tutorial.

Given all that drama, The Kites arrives as a relatively unheralded corrective to America's poor record with the Gary oeuvre. But, oh boy, is it a doozy. Neither a bowler-hatted experimental novel in the tradition of Alain Robbe-Grillet, nor a breezy fable like The Little Prince by Gary's fellow aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, it is a sweeping, classic novel-brand-novel that is mostly beyond reproach and deserving of comparison only to similarly perfect adventure stories like Treasure Island and Alain Fournier's enchanting Le Grande Meaulnes. Like Meaulnes, The Kites begins as a gentle account of a boyhood encounter with love, lightly touched by magic.

Concurrent with the release of The Kites, New Directions is re-releasing Gary's 1961 memoir Promise at Dawn, which recounts his wartime adventures in a prose that is, by turns, charming, entertainingly grand, and exasperating. At times Gary comes across as positively boorish, such as when he tries to silence a "poetess" by "stroking her lips tenderly with the tips of my fingers in an attempt to interrupt the flow of words while, with an eloquent look in my eyes, I tried to invite her to a soft and languorous silence, the only true language of the heart." Give me a break! But the real subject of Promise at Dawn is neither the war nor Gary's amorous conquests, but his mother, who plainly did a number on the poor lad and who looms as large in his imagination as Kafka's father did in his. Gary laments, at the memoir's end, that, "It is not right to love only one human being so much, even if it is your mother."

What seems far more probable is that Gary was the kind of unlikely and unwieldy character that we are lucky to have on the page, for in life he would mortify us. The Kites is indeed a treasure, capable of accessing an enormous node of insight and almost-overwhelming beauty spliced with bittersweet candor. For Gary the novelist, it is not only love and fellow-feeling that unites us, but "the expression of suffering." Perhaps it took the suffering that claimed Gary's life for him to write as expansive a work of devout humanism as The Kites. Whatever the case, we are lucky to have it at last. We're going to need it.

The song emphasizes the importance of love in giving life purpose and meaning. The chorus declares that without love, everything loses its significance. It emphasizes the idea that love brings depth, fulfillment, and purpose to our actions, choices, and experiences. The repetition of the phrase "Without your love, without your love" highlights the longing and dependency on love to make everything worthwhile.

Each verse explores different aspects of life that the narrator can navigate and engage with, such as playing, singing, running, moving, crossing seas, and dreaming. However, the repeated acknowledgment that all these actions "ain't nothing" without love suggests that they lack substance and true meaning without the presence of love.

The bridge of the song adds a touch of intensity, describing the impact love can have. It compares love to a storm in the brain, thunder in the veins, and the ability to feel, touch, and know when something becomes overwhelming. It recognizes that love can be both exhilarating and challenging, yet it remains essential for a sense of connection and fulfillment.

Overall, "Without Your Love" conveys the idea that love is what brings meaning and purpose to life. Without love, even the most exciting experiences and personal achievements amount to nothing. The song highlights the significance of love in creating deep connections, fulfilling relationships, and giving life substance and value.
