Another e-mail!

First of all, so we noticed that we still need some tables filled and
instead of having to eliminate tables, we decided it would be a better
idea to have each GROUP invite up to 8 people by tomorrow. These people
will be covered from the table sponsorships. So pass on the word to your
group members and e-mail Marcella the names by tomorrow.

Second, I have attached the restaurants we have so far who have donated to
us at the end of this e-mail. I need to know the food item that was
donated along with who in your group will be picking up the food item from
the restaurant please put down the name, and phone # of the person picking
up the food.

Dear ABers,

There is some justifiable concern that it isn't fair to have charged some students for the benefit dinner and allow others to attend free. Please convey to your trip groups that the reason we are inviting some students as guests is that we received several large donations from organizations that stated they couldn't attend the benefit dinner and would like to take the option we offered to donate their seats to students. Thus it wouldn't be right to charge for those seats. We do hope, however, that these students will make a donation of any amount. A new development is that there will be donor forms and envelopes at each table setting in hopes of many more donations.

 

Another consideration is that it will be better to have a larger audience because we have tons of food and have already paid for the linens, plates, and silverware for the extra tables. Hopefully these students will be inspired to participate in Alternative Breaks next year. It also allows some students to attend as sponsored students that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it. One student asked her new guests to contribute $10 which they could afford.

 

So Mary, we'll need 180 donor forms and 180 contact forms. I’m so happy the printing will be free!

Hi Rebeca,

So I am really disappointed and sorry that the restaurants that Jen and I
contacted haven't seemed to come through. All three seemed sooo excited
at first and practically committed and I even had a meeting with the
BluWave guy. But we have called all three restaurants everyday for the
past few days and they haven't called us back. According to the list
though, it looks like there should be enough food and hopefully we won't
have to worry. Again, I'm really sorry. On a lighter note, thank you for
all of the hard work you have put into the benefit! Peru really
appreciates it :)

Hi Mary,
Can you let me know which restaurants didn't come through because I
think we already thanked them on the program. No worries, we have PLENTY
of food! There were even a couple of more restaurants that weren't on
this list.

Hi Rebecca,
I filled in the info from the Guatemala group. Lorraine insisted on
picking up the Jambalaya. She said she would be in North County anyway
and had a friend here from Washington that can help her so since it's
rush hour and hard to get to, I said okay.

We will have tons of food!! There were some additions for restaurants
and I took off BluWave Mediterranean - correct?

I think just BluWave was on the list....the other one's we thought we were
going to have but don't are NineTen and Jose's but I didn't see them on
the list.
