A preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling south on Beede Hill Road. A Fremont police officer was monitoring traffic with radar when the 1991 BMW drove by at a high speed in the 35mph zone. Fremont Police Chief Neal Janvrin, who is not related to the victim, would not say how fast the car was allegedly going.
The Fremont officer briefly lost sight of the vehicle as he pulled out from his stationary position. The officer then came across the accident scene. Preliminary investigation reveals that the driver lost control of the vehicle, leaving the road and striking a tree. The severe impact of the crash caused the vehicle to break into two pieces. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt and both were ejected from the vehicle.
"We have more than our share of accidents on Beede Hill Road. We get a lot of speeding complaints on Beede Hill but we patrol it regularly," Janvrin said. "It's a windy, curvy road where we see a lot of cars off the road in the winter but nothing serious like this. This is the first fatal on Beede Hill Road in my 20 years as police chief."
Holmes said Beede Hill Road is in fairly good condition, and the area where the accident took place is in a state-maintained section of that road. Beede Hill Road extends for about three miles between Route 101's Exit 6 in Epping and Main Street (Route 107) in Fremont, and Holmes said the road handles mostly residential traffic.
On Monday afternoon, Holmes was headed to the now-cleared accident scene to put down sand, and he said he didn't notice any skid marks in the area leading up to the scene. From the look of the area, Holmes said the car apparently struck an 18-inch wide pine tree, and in a release police said the force of the impact tore the car in two.
A resident who lives next to the accident scene and asked not to be identified said he heard a loud "boom" at the time of the Sunday night crash and saw two men lying on the pavement when he went outside. The man recalled that the same tree had been struck head-on by a car in a non-fatal accident about four years ago but said that Beede Hill Road has otherwise been a relatively quiet street.

Janvrin is the son of Linda Janvrin of Sandown and Robert Janvrin and his wife Arline of Hampstead. Janvrin enjoyed spending time with his nieces and playing football with his nephews. He looked forward to the family vacations to Virginia and Walt Disney World. He was especially proud of his recently purchased 1996 Mustang GT.
He always enjoyed making family and friends laugh. A memorial service for Janvrin was held Thursday, Dec. 11 in St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Sandown. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Sandown Library, PO Box 580, Sandown, NH or Sandown Food Pantry, PO Box 5, Sandown, NH 03873.
