I also would try to do my own level but i bet it takes so much time to develop an own level.
Is it hard to make your own level with the Level Editor?
I am not a programmer or something like that, but i would like to try it out. How much time does it need to learn the Level Editor?
Tomb Raider Level Editor workspace screenshot. Click to enlarge. The Tomb Raider Level Editor allows players to build, play and share their own Tomb Raider levels using the same game engine employed in The Last Revelation and Chronicles (TR4 and 5). The Level Editor tools are included on a separate CD sold with the PC and Macintosh version of Chronicles. This CD also includes an extensive manual and tutorial in PDF format. If you don't have the game, or if you bought the PlayStation version of Chronicles, you can download the Level Editor for free (below), but you must build and play on the PC.
In addition to the tools supplied with the editor, player-designers have created a wealth of additional content-from textures, objects, audio files and costumes for Lara to online tutorials, FAQs and message boards for exchanging tips and finished levels.
Even if you don't have the time or talent to create your own levels, you may still want to check out some of the hundreds of levels other fans have made. With custom levels, Lara's adventures never end!
IMPORTANT: Tombraiders.net does not offer level editor support. Please visit the sites listed below for tutorials, FAQs, troubleshooting, etc. Many have forums where you can ask questions and chat with other player-designers.
Whether you just want to download levels to play or if want to start designing your own custom levels, here are a few good places to start. Keep in mind that this is just the tip of the TRLE iceberg. Check my general Links page for many more sites that feature level editor info along with other content.

The Tomb Raider Level Editor is a package of tools used to create game levels for Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation. Part of the package, the Room Editor, was used by the Core Design developers to create Tomb Raider levels. A version of the level editor was released to the public in 2000, as a second disc with Tomb Raider: Chronicles (PC version only), that allows the user to create levels for Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation.
Several levels were included with the editor to allow users to view how certain rooms and traps were set up in Tomb Raider. Some of the levels included appear to be betas, while others are exactly the same as the final version of the levels. More levels were released later by Eidos Interactive.
I have downloaded a new tomb raider custom levels in www.trle.net the Titak-HimalayanMysteries levels. I just started playing it and its working normally, but when I save the game, the game close (End now) and not saving like there is a problem, but all the tomb raider games that I have downloaded them saves normally except this one, please tell me what should I do to let the game be saved? I am going to write for you the important information file for this custome level.
Or you can experiment by downloading the level editor and playing the first two included levels. These have very easy levels that aid you in learning how the game is played. The download link can be found earlier in the article.
In this level, the character model of Lara is replaced by a wolf model. This model is very nice to look at and the visual presentation fits the visuals of Tomb Raider 4 nicely. The custom music and sound effects are decent. It was quite unexpected to find more MIDI-sounding music in a Tomb Raider level.
This is quite a lengthy game. As a matter of fact, this game can take up to an hour to complete the three levels. In these three levels, you play as two different playable characters. Yes, you have two playable characters. You can swap between them using swap points you find at certain places. Both characters have different unique abilities. This is something I rarely see in TRLE levels and was a pleasant surprise to see.
Thirdly, I think that the levels were either too long or too short. The first level was too long and the two other levels were over before I knew it. I think it would have been better if the first level was cut into more levels and the 2nd and 3rd levels were merged into one level.
Overall, a very creative level pack but needs some minor polish to get perfect. This level pack does a lot of unique things in the TRLE community and is really recommended for veteran players or new players looking for a challenge.
While this level impressed me at the start with some amazing camera angles and two big rooms filled with jump puzzles, the issues with this level became clear to me quickly. This level has quite a lot of backtracking.
Also, I found the walkthrough of the actual author of this level. And he had to speed up some parts of his video. Looking at that video, this level goes on for quite a while. I have quit playing this level when I had to fight enemies in the dark. I just felt done with the level.
I had a great time playing these levels. If you decide to play these levels, I have a tip for you. At first, you might think that the camera does some weird things but pay attention when the angle changes. What is it showing you? Seriously, it shows some extremely helpful things.
The only advice I could give to the author for this level is if you create bug pictures and such, use more than an arrow to point out ledges. If possible, give them a color or make it a bit more clear which ledge you mean.
I have just been watching a few YouTube Videos from the user tartancroft and I noticed they have made a few interesting levels which include the use of the tightrope walking mechanic (Tomb Raider Chronicles) and was wondering if there is a tomb raider level editor out there that enables that particular mechanic; if so then i have an idea or a suggestion, this community has a lot of good level editors and maybe, Since Core Design no longer exists as an active company, maybe some tomb raiderfans wo are good at leve editing can find a way to make their own Tomb raider game in the same vein as the original pentology of Tomb raider (Tomb raider, Tomb Raider II, Tomb Raider III Adventures of Lara Croft, Tomb Raider IV the last Revelation, Tomb Raider V Chronicles) they also found a way to reskin Lara Croft so she looks more up to date in the game
The Tomb Raider Level Editor (short TRLE) is a set of programs that originally came with Tomb Raider Chronicles. It allows you to build your own levels or play so called Custom Levels, made by others.
I would risk a statement the following one is the best library level until now. When you begin the game, it makes you treat it like an ordinary level, but then throwing in twists you surely cannot expect in a level of this sort.
Balancing a challenge is skill, but balancing a challenge with visuals is mastry. Here is a rare example of a level which plays exactly as good as it looks. Every room is a surprise and an engagement. While that is enough, you also get some special effects included.
I remember this was the first level I betatested in my life. Mytly had a whole gallore of people who could do that, but for some reason I was chosen, and hence the title. No, actually no. But yes, I betatested this and it was the first one in my life.
Add custom level category for an increasing community of players that are streaming custom made games or levels such as TRLE levels (tomb raider level editor/ trle.net). Could also apply to other games with custom maps/mods etc.
There is a steadily increasing audience for these levels and it is detrimental to the streamer to have to set the game as "tomb raider the last revelation" most of the time, purely because this is the engine used, but not actually what is being streamed. People will open the stream for tomb raider 4 but leave when its not actually tomb raider 4.
Upvote!! This needs to happen! Streaming TRLE levels is a great way to build community, bring in new fans who may not have heard of them is before, and keep the Tomb Raider fan base interested and engaged between major game releases. Please add this category!
This new TRLE game category would be a huge help among the Tomb Raider fans. There's so many fan made levels that have become so popular and it's difficult to share them as the game would have to go under one of the official game titles. It's not so easy to find these fan made levels when you need to look through the other game titles and the talent put into these levels seemingly become lost.
Enough people stream these Level Editors that it would be a very welcomed addition to the games category.
You should really do this. Those custom levels are made in five different Tomb Raider engines so being able to only choose the original game as category confuses at least six groups of people. It happened many times the viewers felt misled or clickbaited and there's a risk it may backfire at streamers who didn't have bad intentions for as long as there is no separate custom level category provided. Please take care of this.
TRLEs are custom level created by fan of Tomb Raider franchise, using the engine of various original Tomb Raider games.
While it is a new game created by them, each level are unique, it's also an extraordinary wave of creativity, hard work, and imagination to make content for players.
I can only recommended to promote this aspect of creating + gaming by adding a game category for it. The level editor tool is provided with the classic game Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation, to allow player to create more and make their own "game". But the creator is also able to use various ways of creating, based on all the first 5 classic games. That's why it's important to make a separate category for these created games.
