ASR063-Blue Sabbath Black Fiji-Night Hawk

Blue Sabbath Black Fiji (French and German ex-pats, now hailing from Glasgow, Scotland) have returned to Abandon Ship Records with another brilliant album. They've kept themselves busy, as you will soon discover, with this earsplitting, gut-wrenching, headache of an album. Without losing their free-spirited approach that was apparent in Lazer Saber, they seem to have furthered their eternal knowledge on making guitars sound like intergalactic weapons of mass destruction. Tracks of complete harshness are swallowed whole by tracks of far out, noisy psych jams. They keep it so interesting, in fact, that you will wonder what happened to the last 40 minutes, and will need to start the disc over from the beginning. Truly mesmerizing and rewarding.

ASR064-Mea'l

Mea'l is a completely improvised, shred metal/noise project featuring four stand-out members of the New York City and Philadelphia experimental music scene. Mike Eber and John DeBlase, of NYC progressive jazz/rock trio Zevious, team up with Philadelphia's Nick Millevoi (Many Arms, Make a Rising) and Eli Litwin (Normal Love, Knife the Glitter), to systematically pulverize and reshape the fabric of the free-improv genre. Hypnotic, vicious and brutal, Mea'l is a 37 minute minute aural assault on the senses.

ASR065-Flesh Coffin - Veil of Snakes

Andreas Brandal, of Norway, has been making music since the late 80's, and it shows. Over the last three years, he has been extremely productive, releasing albums through a variety of labels including his own, Twilight Luggage.
On Veil of Snakes his handiwork is extremely refined and calculated...no wankery to be found here. It's easily the darkest release Abandon Ship Records has released to date. The perfectly layered tones and samples demonstrate his knack for complete control, maintaining a driving force throughout the album. It is a masterpiece, and I am truly honored to make it available to you all.

ASR066-Nervous Sex / Drums Like Machine Guns

Philadelphia's Nervous Sex sets the stage with a violently brooding atmosphere that remains throughout the rest of the tape, including Drums Like Machine Guns' side. The song selection for this split was so spot on, that I forget they're two different bands sometimes. Ironically, the thing that sets them apart most is the use of drums on the Nervous Sex side. They know exactly how much to use though, without ever overdoing it. It's perfectly balanced, with vocals throughout.
The Drums side is grimey and sinister. Filthy sounds and murky vocals combine to create some of the strongest, nontraditional power electronics to ever come out of the northeast.

ASR068-Christian Science Minotaur - Maps 4

The sounds of weighty snow lead to enclosed feelings of tender. Eventually, distant howls of pet burial mix with porch banjo. Ends with the undead.

This is the fourth installment in a series of nine EPs. The first two were released by LFT Records and are out of print. The third was released on cassette by Peasant Magik.
Map 4 was originally written and performed for Pendu's 2009 Eye&Ear fest's drone room. This is a home recreation of that performance.
