The other issue is that the drive simply unmount itself after either in sleep mode or simply randomly. That issue appears to happen for a long time already and should finally be investigated by SanDisk!
And as said, the other issue is the the disk randomly unmounts itself on MacOS! Are you guys not reading customer reviews on Reddit and similar do you guys not test that app on the hardware you are shipping too?

I just want to follow up on my previous post. The Sandisk Security app that comes with the drive is indeed very buggy, in my case, on macOS Ventura. However, I just re-installed the latest version of the app from this site -en.wd.com/app/products/product-detailweb/p/8729 and most of the bugs have been fixed (I used version 1.0.0.7).
Secondly, the drive was not recognized by the application because initially I upgraded the app to WD Security (blue app icon - not red).
Using latest version of the security app I was able to remove the unlocker partition from my drive.
I am also face the same problem on MacOS ventura 13.2.
In addition to problem stated above i have one more problem.
Auto unlock feature is not working. I have tried to reinstall software but it is not working.
Please release provide the solution.
I am facing the same issue. The drive will simply unmount itself after entering sleep mode, and the app does not even respect auto-unlock (even though the check-box is enabled in the app) after the device reboots. I have to put in the password each time there is a reboot and/or sleep mode.
Hi posidron,
Same boat. I am locked out of my SanDisk Extreme, because it had a spining wheel when I closed the macbook with the drive attached. Then it locks me out, I have tried my known password and it it not letting me in.
I have contacted SanDisk 3 times. No help.
Custom changes to disk security metadata should not be applied to theDiskSecurity.xml file itself. The disk security metadata can becontained in multiple files. All disk security metadata do not have tobe contained only in the DiskSecurity.xml file. You can create anynumber of additional disk security metadata files. To customize disksecurity, you should create an additional file with the xmlextension in the %plesk_dir%etc\DiskSecurity directory and specifyadditional security rules in the file. This will enable you to trackchanges and manipulate sets of security metadata easily.
Disk security rule entries have the same format as hosting security rule entries. To learn about the entry attributes in more detail, refer to General Security Metadata Structure. We also recommend that you see the example provided below.

Over the last couple of days Norton 360 began constantly asking for full disk access for the Norton Extension. I do not have the Norton Extension active on any of my browsers and do not want to have it active as it interferes with the native protections on the browsers that I use. Using latest version on Sonoma.
Even after enabling the Norton System Extension on macOS 14 Sonomo, you may still see a repeated Full Disk Access prompt whenever you open Norton after a system restart. It is an operating system issue, and we are working on getting this issue fixed.
It's not Norton's browser extension but system extension for macOS. But however, recently, I have been asked two times to enable Norton system extension just after a day or two of enabling it. But I didn't get that notification today, fortunately.
Today, I got the same notification and had to enable Norton System Extension again. Either it's a bug in Norton or macOS Sonoma. This is the third time, am doing it and it's getting annoying. Norton can you please look into it?
Please begin to tell us which browser and which of its native securities you want. On Edge and FireFox, I have my profiles on Strict, all the standard security on Maximum, and with all Norton's extensions active, I have no problem, on the last Intel MacBook Pro OS 14 Sonoma.
For full disk access multiple prompts, I just posted the solution for 14 Sonoma: It's just the same as for 13 Ventura: Suppress "Norton System Extension", quit Norton's last installation, and re-launch it.

I know it's only matter of time before I see " You are not connected to the internet " open up Norton and see the request to finish the set up..knowing that I done this when the software was installed ( every time ! )
Did Norton Official Support acknowledge the issue as known and reassure you that the issue is being investigated?
Did Norton Official Support escalate issue?
Norton DocID: v20221020120926278 - Last modified: 09/27/2023 seems to inform that the issue is known and being worked on.
No support was offered. Just offered refund (if eligible).
I offered "We'll try to call attention:" and I did.
I'm Norton user. I'm not Norton.

Thank you but this is an old thread and is a well known issue. Why where they ignoring this thread/issue when they should be responding w/o intervention from your side or someone who can actually contact them. Looks like they are a sleeping giant and someone who can contact them are the only ones who can get their attention
This continues to happen on my Macbook as well. Makes you wonder if Norton is actually doing anything to protect the devices on which it is installed. Will be cancelling my auto renew until it is fixed.
I'm of the view that Norton will not be resolving this issue as it seems to have been ongoing since Ventura was launched more than a year ago. I think that going through the granting of full disc access every time one reboots is now part of the Norton experience.
Granting full disk access was not the issue. The issue was that it kept asking for it, even though it had been granted
the only way to resolve was ti un install and re install , but a week after ....add neasum
Yes, with Total AV you still have to grant full disc access.
Yes, you still have to grant full disc access, as with any security solution.
Does Total AV have repeated "asking for full disc access". I'm trying to learn whether Total AV works better on your Mac vs Norton 360?
This will include BitDefender, Norton Antivirus, Sophos Av Software, Intego AntiVirus, McAfee, Avast AntiVirus, Ad Guard, Webroot , ESET , Avira , AVG AntiVirus, avira antivirus, Trustee AntiVirus for Mac, F-Secure, Securemac, Cylance, Kaspersky Internet Security
I contacted Apple to see if they would help. They are saying the issue is most likely a Norton issue since it is a 3rd party software. I was advised to uninstall, then reinstall Norton. I read where someone has already done that with the same issue. IDK?
Finding it hard to lay the blame of this on a single vendor where multiple vendors are seeing the same issue. This issue appears to be a policy reset in the OS after several reboots that is the main cause.
Thank you SoulAsylum. Looks like it's a bug in macOS and will most likely be fixed in 14.2 only. But at least the Norton team could have replied to this thread and mentioned about it. Why do they keep ignoring posts in their own forum?
I don't have an answer regarding why there isn't someone Norton that would fairly regularly visit/monitor the MAC forums. We Gurus and other do our level best to find the answers as well as people at Norton to reach out to nevertheless.

I am trying to change the security settings using the Startup Security Settings on my new MacBook Pro (Apple Silicon).I am entering the MacOS Recovery utility by holding down the fingerprint button. When I enter the Recovery Utility I click on Utilities > Security Policy.
For anyone that has this problem in the future, I seem to have solved the problem. The confusing part is that it actually solved itself. I think it has to do with the disk encryption status - while the disk is initially encrypting changing this security setting does not appear to be possible. After coming back to this setting about 6 hours later, it suddenly started working, for no apparent reason.
