NPA Rizal supports the people's opposition to Laiban dam, vows to launch tactical offensive to stop Laiban dam Macario "Ka Karyo" Liwanag Tagapagsalita Narciso Antazo Aramil Command New People's Army-Rizal November 9, 2009 The officers and red fighters of NARCISO ANTAZO ARAMIL COMMAND (NAAC-NPA-Rizal) supports the people's opposition to Laiban Dam. Ever since it was planned by the Marcos regime, the members of the revolutionary movements in Rizal Province including the members of the NPA have joined the people of Northern Quezon and Rizal Province in opposing this project. The planned 28,000 heactares Laiban dam would displace more or less 8,000 families from the 8 barangays of Tanay, Rizal namely; Sta. Ynes, Mamuyao, Tinucan, Cayabu, San Andres, Sto. Nino, Laiban and Daraitan with the seven-barangays to be submerged in water. It will also submerge Barangay Lumutan of Gen. Nakar Quezon. It would also displace the members of Dumagat and Remontado tribes from their ancestral lands. The on-going protest of the people of Rizal and Northern Quezon, including the members of Dumagat and Remontado tribesmen is the organized expression of the long running opposition of the people against the construction of Laiban Dam. It is the continuation of the people's just struggle that started since Marcos time who started this project supposedly to provide additional water to the needs of the people of Metro Manila. Construction of the Laiban Dam is the dream of every reactionary regime who salivates with the expected profits that they would pocket once the dam becomes operational. The succeeding regime starting from Ferdinad Marcos up to the present Macapagal Arroyo regimes desperately tried to continue the project but were eventually foiled by the organized resistance of the people. Faced with massive opposition and protests, they eventually shelved the project. The Macapagal Arroyo regime is very persistent in its efforts to have the Laiban Dam project constructed. Before she leave office in 2010, she and his cohorts still wants to dip their hands and make this project their milking cow. This regime orders the AFP to guard the Dam and suppress the peoples' opposition to the dam. The affected barangays are now teeming with Philippine Army troops from the notorious 16th IB-PA to quell the peoples' movement agaist the Laiban Dam. But the people will not be cowed. They are determined to oppose th dam and with massive protest coupled with the armed resistance of the revolutionary movements in Rizal and Quezon, the wish of this corrupt regime will surely fail. The efforts of the people together with the revolutionary movement will surely frustrates the Macapagal Arroyo regime's plan. The NAAC-NPA-Rizal, with the support ot the people vows to launch tactical offensive to stop the construction of Laiban dam and to stop all anti-people project of the reactionary government posing as development projects.
