DEADMONTON Cops - Don't Need More Cash - Already Waste Too Many Millions
Chief cop Knecht is whining for more millions, claiming he needs more.
Serious crimes in DEADMONTON are skyrocketing so much, and the useless
cops seem to be only good for parking tickets, and destroying police cars.
Morale is so bad, many senior cops including the best Deputy Police Chief
resigned the beginning of 2012.
Police received 17 per cent of the city�s increased tax levy in 2012,
compared to 18 per cent in 2003, chief financial officer Lorna Rosen said.
Approximately $320 MILLION, before the extra $10 million, yet
serious crime just keeps increasing.
The total annual cost of the additional employees will be $10.1 million, but
police expect to offset that with $3 million a year in extra traffic fine
according to the Journal Wednesday 18 April 2012
Actually, he is already getting too much cash.
It is how he wastes millions THAT IS THE PROBLEM.
HE WANTS TO ADD 34 COPS IN EACH OF THE NEXT 2 YEARS.
He says he wants another 9 million. but geets over $10 MILLION.
In fact, his previous budget has enough cash for another 34 cops.
One and a half million is wasted on his 14 person BS/PR staff.

Crime doesn't pay � in fact, it's costing the city police
communications branch a lot of cash.
Every year, the Edmonton Police Service spends nearly $1.5 million to run its
internal and external communications team.
And though that figure might seem high, the EPS considers it a crucial part of
doing business, especially when it comes to getting information to the public.
"We know our relationships with the media pay off many times a year,"
said EPS corporate communications boss David Schneider.
"The media is an important partner."
Stories and broadcasts help nab criminals, find the missing, and track down
witnesses.
Dealing with the media is just one part of the job for the communication team.
That $1.5-million tab pays for everything from speech writers and spokesmen,
to advertising campaigns and the production of training videos.
Communications staffers � there is a total of 14 � within EPS typically earn
between $60,000 and $70,000.
In contrast, the Calgary Police Service has an eight-person media relations
team handling all internal and external communications.
Its annual budget is $1.1 million, a figure that includes things like
salaries, operating costs, and training.
The CPS pays its spokesmen between $63,000 and $84,000.
On top of that, Calgary police has a $175,000 digital communications unit
staffed by one person.
The media liasing in Edmonton is done by a team of five communications
spokespeople, whose job it is to fill the public in on police's latest
crime-fighting efforts.
"If (people) are interested to know what's going on in the city, if they would
like to know in an accurate and timely fashion, those five people facilitate
that," Schneider said.
They're each assigned a division and work Monday to Friday.
Getting a spokesman on the horn on the weekend can be tough, but Schneider
said they're looking into ways of making communications staff more accessible
after hours.
To allow reporters to get straight to the facts, spokesmen try to arrange for
officers to address the media personally, he added.
"We try and have the members that know (the file) talking about the story," he
said. "But there's an awful lot of coordination involved."
While there are five workers tasked with dealing directly with the media,
there are nine others working in internal communications.
Of course, communication doesn't always come at a price.
Social media like Twitter and Facebook are becoming more popular ways to
spread the word, he said.
Police could soon be adding to that by releasing inside footage of crime
scenes.
They're currently exploring the idea of shooting video of things like
grow-ops, and releasing them to the public, Schneider said.
The EPS annual budget for 2011 was $242 million.

For what knecht costs taxpayers, he should be able to speak English,
and do his own media meetings.
If EPS would collect the $400,000 in damages caused by the incompetent
cops who crashed 183 cars t his would pay for around 8 new cops.
Stop paying $400 a pair for long johns. Let cops pay for for their own
clothing, same as other workers do.
By the way, isn't this the same Knecht who used to mismanage RCMP
K Division, and sent the 4 rookies to get killed at Mayerthope.?

guns have smashed up 183 police vehicles which cost taxpayers millions to buy
Most of the accidents WERE NOT INVOLVING ANY URGENT CALLS,
according to the police. In nearly all ases there was no siren or flashing
lights.
Police union rep Simioni is giving all kinds of excuses for this abysmal
performance.
There is no info as to what charges have been laid against these useless cops.
Also, why have those cops not been held ACCOUNTABLE AND MADE TO PAY
ALL THE COSTS OF THEIR NEGLIGENCE - both for the police car, and also
to third parties?
Remember the case a few years ago, when a cop, speeding without lights or
siren, killed a child on Yellowhead & 121 St.?

Cops only get respect when they deserve it, and with all the unsavoury acts
exposed by media, including killings, hiring contract killers, drugs, torture.
