The spiritual life is not a theory. We have to live it. Unless one's
family expresses a desire to live upon spiritual principles we think
we ought not to urge them. We should not talk incessantly to them
about spiritual matters. They will change in time. Our behavior will
convince them more than our words. We must remember that ten or twenty
years of drunkenness would make a skeptic out of anyone.

Saying we are living a new way of life is meaningless unless followed
by action. In theory, we will become saints if we perfectly follow
every step in all aspects of our lives. Of course, this is not the
case. We need to be willing to still admit when we are wrong and make
amends. This is what good stepwork and a changed attitude and way of
thinking can offer. Alcoholics Anonymous and God may help us to be
better, but it will never make us perfect. We need to live the program
to the best of our honest ability.
Many of us may have been lost causes with no hope of restoring any
decent quality of life. Amazingly, those folks who thought we were
valueless are often those who are happy to see us sober and changed. I
try not to force my program or my God or my steps on anyone - but I do
try to lead by example. I have seen successful sober people carry the
principles into all their affairs, restoring sanity and love to their
families - and this is exactly what I try to do each day. I live the
AA way of life!

Living a SPIRITUAL LIFE is following the "good orderly direction" that
God (as I understand Him) has offered me. When I do my best to carry
out His will for me, I feel more balanced and serene - that's the
spiritual influence I seek:
S - Sober another day by the grace of God
P - Practicing the principles in all my affairs .. because it works
when I work it
I - I am grateful to love my career today
R - Right now it's time for a fresh cup of coffee - care to join me?
I - I went to the 7am Daily Reflections meeting before work today -
best way to start the day!
T - Today I will be as useful as possible
U - Unless I want my misery to be refunded (which I don't), I'll keep
going to meetings and working my AA program
A - Another day sober, thank God.
L - Live. Laugh. Love.
