“Perhaps we have committed a criminal offense which might land us in
jail if it were known to the authorities. We may be short in our
accounts and unable to make good. We have already admitted this in
confidence to another person, but we are sure we would be imprisoned
or lose our job if it were known. Maybe it's only a petty offense such
as padding the expense account. Most of us have done that sort of
thing. Maybe we are divorced, and have remarried but haven't kept up
the alimony to number one. She is indignant about it, and has a
warrant out for our arrest. That's a common form of trouble too.”

I am allergic to alcohol – whenever I drink I break out – in hand
cuffs!

I have not been handcuffed to a jail bench, faced a judge, or have had
any pending charges since I got sober. This was not always the case
when I was active in my addiction. No coincidence – just a good reason
to keep clean.

A personal share of “what it was like and what happened”:
I can remember when my wife was about 7 months pregnant and I was in
court to face a drunk and disorderly charge. I have made amends for
this, but I know today there is nothing I can do to change the past.
Sometimes consequences just suck.

To be an alcoholic is not criminal – it’s a disease. However, our
disease caused many of us to commit criminal acts:

C – Continue to move forward in recovery; standing still may allow our
disease to catch up to us!
R – Right now I have a cup of coffee on my desk, not a bottle of Jack
Daniels – for this, I’m grateful J
I – I had a nice Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) with family.
M – Many emails that need attention today after being out of the
office for 4 days .. one thing at a time
I – I know I’m not perfect – still just as willing today to remain
teachable as I was when I first landed in A.A.
N – No regrets – everything that has happened to me led me to where I
am today.
A – Another day sober – thank God!
L – Lifting my head in inspired motivation and hope is better than
drooping my head down low in negative hatred.

Monday Meditations:
+ Apologizing doesn’t always mean you’re wrong and the other person is
right. It just means that you value your relationship more than your
ego.
+ I don’t need anger management; I need people to stop pissing me off!
J
+ Judging a person does not define who they are. It defines who you
are!
