Making amends can be a positive experience if properly executed. It
can patch old wounds and enable a relationship to be repaired,
allowing for further progress to be made. However, if our ego gets in
the way and misdirected actions are taken, despite the best of
intentions, more harm than good can be done. Be careful when
apologizing and making new promises about changing - use God and your
sponsor to ensure actions being taken are appropriate.
In recovery I have learned that my own best thinking is not always the
best thinking. This is why I bounce ideas off of my sober network of
friends - I can learn from their experiences and allow them to suggest
ways of handling life's challenges. If I truly want what they have, I
need to do exactly what they have done.
God is doing for me what I cannot do for myself - and this includes
much more than just not drinking alcohol. I allow Him to help guide my
actions when I 'pause and play the tape thru first'. Am I doing the
next right thing? Well, if I carry out His will for me, odds are YES -
act as if..

to rehab

B - Before picking up a drink, pick up the phone (speaking to a fellow
drunk won't get us drunk)
