My name is Janelle Wong and I am the new Director of the Program in Asian American Studies at UMD. I am teaching a new class at UMD this Fall -- Asian American Politics. It's a Presidential election year -- this class is designed to help you to learn more about how Asian Americans matter in politics and why race matters in the U.S. politics system. As a new faculty member at UMD, I am excited to get to know Maryland students.

AAST498T Advanced Topics in Asian American Studies: Asian American Politics  (TuTh...... 9:30am-10:45am; PLS 1113) 
This course will increase students' understanding of 1) the role of Asian Americans in US politics, 2) the political attitudes and behavior of Asian Americans and 3) help students to conduct research on Asian American politics. Though the class will concentrate on Asian Americans, issues related to Asian American politics will be examined within the larger context of Americas multicultural political landscape.
