Hey all!

Another awesome, productive meeting. Three announcements:
  1. Our meetings will now be every Tuesday from 6-7.
  2. There are still four days to apply for the AAJA convention news service, "Voices," which pays for college students like you to come to the convention and do journalism! Check it out here: http://www.aaja.org/voices2013/.
  3. We're going to have a big marketing push this week to encourage more people to come out to our meetings, so please share AASJ's statuses and change your cover photo/profile picture! Creating a great AASJ community and establishing a stronger presence on campus will be a tremendous contribution, but that starts with you!

Here are the accountabilities for this week:

  • Henry: invite graduate students to our next meeting
  • Dan: fundraising --> ask friend for car, research how to sell food in front of Kellogg: May 14, 16, 21
  • Andrea: paperwork to establish AASJ as official club
  • Andrea: we discussed having a social event/potluck--would you be able to offer your place?
  • Katherine: update cover photo with new meeting time
  • Rachel/Sally: speakers --> Niala Boodhoo, Ameet, Susannah Song, Paul Wang (reach out and confirm dates)
  • Kerri: MediaWatch posts on FB page, reach out to A/AASA
  • Audrey: send email to Dorina about meetings
Also, Mei-Ling will be presenting “The Complexity of Me: Exploring (and Confronting) Cultural Identity Through Storytelling" May 8 at Noon in MTC 3-119. Food will be provided. Since she's our advisor, it would be really great to have a lot of us out there to support her! I'm sure the event itself will be interesting as well.

Love,
