Are there any ways or prerequisites to convert slob dumps to stardict/aard ones?

Aarddict is no matter good app but for some devices, I mean iOS, it's unavailable. That can be solved my using another dump format.

Thx in advance,
Alex

A converter, of course, can be written from slob to whatever you want. Slob itself, however, is just a data storage format and is not primary source of content, so perhaps using original data source and converting directly to desired format is a better approach (at least if conversion quality is important).

I myself don't have any plans to write converters _from_ slob. But you can if you see value in this.

I'm not sure why would you want to convert slob to aard (original Aard format), doesn't seem to make any sense.

Can you suggest any idea how to write a converter for stardict format?

As I've understood, .aard is no longer supported but it would be suitable to convert compiled aard binaries to stardict.

The main reason to write converter - using it on ios devices, for which aarddict is not available yet (any plans?)

If you can program then you'd be looking for stardict files format description (this appears to be it: http://stardict-4.sourceforge.net/StarDictFileFormat) and writing a program in your favorite programming language to generate it from whatever source (which of course you also need to be able to read and parse in that programming language).
If you can't - maybe you can create dictionaries as described at http://stardict-4.sourceforge.net/HowToCreateDictionary

Aard Dictionary and its .aar dictionaries are in the process of being phased out and replaced by Aard 2/.slob.

but it would be suitable to convert compiled aard binaries to stardict.

Again, .aar dictionaries are not the original data source. Pretty much all of them come from either MediaWiki dumps or mwscrape databases or XDXF dictionaries (with many of them already converted to StarDict, see http://sourceforge.net/projects/xdxf/files/dicts-stardict-form-xdxf/).

There are no plans to make aarddict for ios.
