ARTS INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Meridian International Center, a not-for-profit organization, promotes international understanding through the exchange of people, ideas, and the arts. Meridian’s Arts Program organizes, presents and circulates a variety of high-profile, international exhibitions each year, sending these to museums and cultural institutions around the country and the world.
Meridian offers unpaid internships for Art, Art History, and Museum Studies students. Interns assist staff in many aspects of exhibition development, such as:
· Involvement in day to day operations of the exhibition program
· Producing exhibition materials for promotional purposes
· Working closely with Meridian staff to develop educational guides for upcoming exhibits
· Collaborating with embassies and arts institutions
· Assisting with cultural programs, receptions, and planning for future activities, in particular research for new exhibitions
· Assisting with condition reports
· Involvement with installation and takedown of exhibitions
· Overseeing and developing PageMaker documents and other illustrated texts
· Monitoring galleries
Meridian interns enjoy a broad educational experience and have a genuine impact on the work of the institution. While the Arts Division is small, its responsibilities are vast, presenting many learning opportunities through active collaboration with staff members. Free parking and a lunch stipend will be provided to all interns.
Generally, interns remain at Meridian for one semester, although year-long internships also are available. To be considered for an internship, please submit a letter of interest with your resumé to:
