Hi,
Professor Peter Danziger (Ryerson University, Canada) will give
a talk on Wednesday 29.8 at 13.15 in the School of Electrical
Engineering (Otakaari 5), room D302. Everybody is welcome, please

Title: 2-Factorizations of the Complete Graph
Abstract:
Factorization into triples was introduced by Kirkman in 1848, though the so
called Kirkman problem was only solved in 1971 by Ray-Chadhuri and Wilson. In
the 1960's Ringel introduced the problem of factoring the complete graph into an
arbitrary specified 2-factor, known as the Oberwolfach problem. This problem
remains open, though many special cases are known. Subsequently a number of
variations on this problem have been suggested, such as the Hamilton-Waterloo
problem. We will give some recent results and discuss some new variations.
