Please forward this to any students/recent graduates who may be looking for an internship in the DC area. There is an extremely modest stipend for this position.

Applicants can feel free to email me about this opportunity. They do not need to be full time.

---------

We need an intern who loves the internet for #socialgood. As an online organizing intern you will be in the sweet spot of where the internet meets community organizing for real live change for low-income communities and low-income communities of color.

You'll be a great fit if any of these apply, not all of them need to apply to you:
  • Everyone always loves your Instagrams and Facebook photos/posts
  • Your friends and family love the emails you send them
  • You're always thinking about how to do better and want to learn
  • You're really good at using Google/the internet to learn things
  • You know what Twitter is and #
  • You're passionate about social justice and/or community organizing
Extra points:
  • You have blogged or were a blogger
  • Your emails have made people: attend an activity, donate money to a cause, or share information
  • You're a secret designer: made graphics, flyers, etc.
  • You've shot and edited videos
  • You love gifs and the internet
  • You are a considerate human being and can crack a joke
Hopefully, if we do our jobs right, what you'll get out of the internship:
  • A portfolio of online content you've created and edited such as blogs, Facebook posts, tweets, and web copy
  • Assist in the strategy and execution of rapid-response and strategic online campaigns
  • Pick up skills on getting popular on the internet for a cause

Organizational Blurb:
The Center for Community Change is a national social justice non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, D.C.  Founded in 1968 to honor the life and values of Robert F. Kennedy, our mission is to build the power and capacity of low-income people, especially low-income people of color, to have a significant impact in improving their communities and the policies and institutions that affect their lives.

The Center for Community Change is committed to help build powerful and dynamic movements in diverse communities across America that will be the impetus for creating a society in which everyone has enough to thrive and achieve their full potential.  Inspired by a belief in the dignity of all people, the Center has been instrumental in the fight for comprehensive and fair immigration reform, a push for a bold jobs agenda, and protecting essential retirement security programs. The Center played a major role in recent positive changes to immigration laws that will keep thousands of immigrant families together. Our Housing Trust Fund Project has helped bring affordable housing to millions of people. For further information please visit our website at: www.communitychange.org.
