Dear members of the Board,
I would like to clarify the note that Janice wrote regarding the Treasurer position below.
The Treasurer is elected each year, and since I will be serving as Treasurer through the end of this year, I will be completing my term, rather than stepping down from it.
I continue to serve in my regular term as a member of the Board.
What I am not doing is standing for nomination as Treasurer in 2016, and it was an error that I was presented to you at the last meeting in the nominating process. I was unable to attend the meeting, was not aware that nominations were going to be presented, and most importantly, had not been asked or agreed to be nominated, prior to the November meeting, by the committee chairman to serve as Treasurer in 2016. It was perhaps a natural assumption but should not have taken place regardless. This makes things look rather last-minute in filling the Treasurer function, in my view, but I’m sure that things can adjust and move forward, and that this can be an important learning experience for the nomination processes of the future.
I am currently taking a leave from my parish position to deal with some health issues that have been a problem over the last months, and indicated to Donna and Janice that I will likely need to continue to limit the time I dedicate to the Board for the near future. I do nonetheless hope to be supportive of Marie as interim Treasurer after my term as Treasurer ends on December 31st, and to being of help and value as an ongoing member of the Board.
Thanks very much. I have thoroughly enjoyed helping as Treasurer and look forward to seeing those of you on the Executive Committee at next Wednesday’s meeting.
