Subject: Arizona AG secures nearly $2M after company accused of misleading veterans

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Veterans who were deceived by a company that allegedly offered services it was not authorized to provide are eligible for restitution, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes announced Thursday.
Mayes said her office secured $1.95 million in restitution, civil penalties and fees from White Tanks Group LLC, which operated as VetLink Solutions.
From 2019 to 2024, Mayes’s office said the company violated the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act by telling veterans it could guide them through the benefits process, promising unrealistic increases in benefits. The company would allegedly charge veterans substantial fees for the services that only accredited VA representatives were authorized to provide, Mayes’s office said.
Thank you to the AG and the members of her veterans advisory council on their success to expose one of the "Claims Sharks" preying on the veterans community. There are many of them out there and the work to expose them will continue.
They pop up on a regular basis. Make sure you ask for help. The AZDVS has free services and there are some good people working with various veteran service orgs.

There are some of the law firms doing an honest job representing veterans in their cases.

Memorial Day was previously known as Decoration Day.   There are several claims for the origin of this tradition.   The town of Boalsburg, PA traces their first Decoration Day to 1864.  There was no confusion of this annual event to me as a child growing up in rural Pennsylvania.   It is a day to remember the fallen.  It is a day to decorate the graves of those whom gave their lives in time of war.  Wreaths are laid at honor rolls naming those lost to war.  In my little town,  wreaths and flowers were tossed fom the bridge into the Allegheny river as a tribute to those lost at sea.  VFW and American Legion honor squads would salute the dead with a three round rifle volley.  Incidently, that created many shell casings for kids to gather.

Veteran's Day was originally known as Armistice Day.  A day to celebrate the end of WWI on the 11 day, the 11th hour and the 11th month in 1918  when Germany and the allies signed the Armistice.  It is a day for tribute and to be thankful to all veterans for their service in the armed forces.

I have engaged with adult  persons who do not know the difference between these traditions.
