Open to grad-students, post-docs, new faculty, and other coal-transition scholars in the Social Sciences or Humanities within 5 years of earning their PhD (or other terminal degree). In addition to the two-day academic conference (July 17-18, 2024) and the included one-day Ohio coal region field-visit experience (July 19, 2024), we are excited to announce a special encore production of the Calling Hours theatrical production, eulogizing the retired 2 Gigawatt Conesville, Ohio, coal-fired power plant, to be performed on the Ohio State University Campus in conjunction with the conference, in partnership with the Pomerene Center for the Arts, Wexner Center for the Arts, and the OSU Dept. of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts. AND a special exhibition and reception for the fine arts photography exhibition Better or Equal Use, by Jonas N.T. Becker, in partnership with the Wexner Center for the Arts.
