Call for Participation: Survey on Teaching Climate Change in Higher Education
My name is Josh Merced. I am a faculty member in the Department of Geography, Planning, and Recreation at Northern Arizona University. I am seeking university and college faculty in the United States who teach climate change content—either in stand-alone courses
or as part of a broader course module—to participate in research study through a national survey. This project explores how political, institutional, and cultural pressures shape climate change education in higher education. By centering faculty experiences,
the survey aims to better understand how these dynamics influence both classroom teaching and students’ access to climate literacy. The survey takes approximately
15 minutes to complete. Participation in this research study is voluntary, responses will remain
confidential, and syllabi submissions will be redacted of any identifying information.
Your contributions will help illuminate how universities are positioned as contested spaces in shaping climate knowledge and preparing students for a changing world. Please share this invitation with colleagues who may also teach climate-related courses.
