For more detailed information regarding these positions, their duties, and their function of our group, please refer to the attached bylaws. Each of these positions is a term of two years (June 1st, 2026-May 31st, 2028). Selection will occur prior to the 2026 Annual Meeting of AAG, publicly announced at the EESG Business Meeting on March 20th, 2026. If you win, you will be formally notified prior to March 20th, 2026. Ideally, outgoing leaders will briefly mentor incoming leaders to ensure a smooth transition and that new members feel comfortable in our group.

In addition to championing energy and environment scholarship, we have very recently rewritten our bylaws to include a Values Statement that might provide insight into how we commit to approaching all work in academia through this group: “In perpetuity, EESG is committed to climate action and the principles of justice, equity, diversity, inclusion and decolonization. We are also committed to fostering a culture of care, reciprocity and relationality in our scholarship and practice. Further, we seek to abolish extractive and exploitative relations with the people and places of the energy geographies we work, which includes academia itself.” Beyond a performative statement, we actually strive to institutionalize and operationalize these values throughout everything we do and everything we support. We hope that all applicants embrace and extend these values in each position they fulfill.

Applications for these positions are due by Friday, February 20th by 11:59pm ET. To apply for one of these open positions, please email our group (aag....@gmail.com) with the following: 1) CV/resume; 2) Statement of Interest. In the subject of your email, please write “Leadership application: [position]: [your name].” For any questions regarding these positions or this process, please contact Ryan Stock (rys...@nmu.edu), Co-Chair of EESG. Thank you for your consideration.

Empowerment and peace,
