Dear EESG members and friends,
My name is Johanna Engström and I’m happy to introduce myself as your new co-chair, starting today!
I’m an Assistant Professor in the Geography Department at the University of Florida. I earned my BSc and MSc in Physical Geography from Lund University in Sweden, and worked as a business developer for wind energy projects across Northern Europe at E.ON before moving to the United States in 2012 to pursue a PhD in Geography at the University of Florida.
My scholarship reflects these two parallel trajectories, as I have a genuine interest in physical geography, particularly water resources and climate variability, and a passion for renewable energies.
Having attended EESG events over the past several years, I have greatly appreciated the intellectual exchange, and sense of community that this group fosters. I am excited to become more formally involved and grateful for the opportunity to help support and strengthen EESG alongside my co-chair, Dr. Grobelski, and the rest of the leadership team.
I look forward to working with all of you and to continuing to build an inclusive and engaging community for scholars interested in energy and the environment. Please feel free to reach out—I would love to connect and hear your ideas for EESG's future.
Best regards,
Johanna Engström
