Update: Google has revealed a help center article about the integrated view at (I believe that came out this week). Looks like according to -integrated-view-for-gmail.html, the new help center article may have come out yesterday.
Replying to myself to say wow, I thought this was out to everyone (since it was even in public pictures from the middle of 2021 namely -business-with-new-additions-to-google-works...) however today about 10 minutes ago I was notified by someone that articles were released today about the view...articles namely being -gmail-view-redesign/ and -integrated-view-for-gmail.html.
On the evening of August 23, many logged-in users using port 5222 to connect were disconnected and unable to log back in. Users using port 5223 to connect were still able to log in, and at 04:12:52 UTC those users received a broadcast instant message from gmail.com, an apparently official username used by Google to communicate with their user base, that stated "The broken link has been fixed. Thanks for being our first users!" Port 5222-connectivity was found to have been re-enabled. On August 24, Google Talk was officially launched.
@ripsy85If you do not have Google set up as federated identity provider to your tenant, then users cannot login directly with their gmail account. The user will need to create a Microsoft account with the invited gmail.com account and use that for logging in to teams.
