Dear Amy and Denise
I rarely post but what you said about Melanie and Kendra made me think how
like my daughter they are, she has always wanted to speak but now at 15 makes
very pragmatic decisions about what is the best way of communicating in
each/every situation. Here is something she and 2 friends put together
about using AAC and when and where they use it. Hope it shows they are not
alone. http://www.youtube.com/user/1voicemovies#p/a/0/JGQ7wCsT3AY

Thank you for sending this out. I love seeing other kids who use AAC. Here in our town, Melanie is the only child that has ever had a device and I think that adds to her feeling different. She goes to a camp every summer where all the kids use AAC and it was there that she first saw other kids who had devices. She was very excited to see others like her.
