I wanted parents who are considering eye gaze access for a child who needs AAC to know about the Saturday October 25th workshop in Pittsburgh on “EYE GAZE and BRAIN COMPUTER INTERFACE AAC: EVALUATING YOUR OPTIONS.” This will be a unique opportunity to learn about latest eye gaze systems from LC Technologies, PRC, Tobii and Dynavox. Break-out sessions will include a discussion on selecting and using eye gaze access for children with Rhett’s syndrome or cerebral palsy.
Also, the AAC Institute has been working steadfastly to build awareness of the restrictive funding policies and feature limitations to speech generating devices (SGDs). We are surprised that many Medicaid beneficiaries are not aware or concerned about what is happening to Medicare beneficiaries who need AAC. The keynote luncheon on October 25th specifically addresses the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that restrict access to and features of speech generating devices (SGD).
If you live near Pittsburgh, PA you may wish to attend the luncheon to choice the voices advocating for reversing the Capped Rental rule and Coverage Reminder policy. Details and registration go to: http://www.icantalkclinic.com/eye-gazebci-workshop.htm.
